That looks terrible! How dare they!

Much better to use it as a dog park for the 16 locals who would use it on a regular basis

My rates pay for your council wages and I don't like organised sports!

You can never satisfy everybody. There is always someone that complains.

I had to sit in council chambers at Bayside for a planning application that i was submitting and the gentleman before me prepared a 70 page presentation on why (another) planning application from his neighbour should not be approved. I mean 70 pages! These people have no shame, too much time or are just grumpy.

A step in the right direction.

Seems to be win-win for all involved and not too invasive on the community. Wait and see..

Here is the map from the Gary Pert letter to members just now, which is not a finalised plan but part of the feasibility study.

I don't want to put the mozz on us, but I feel like this kind of advanced discussion around a specific site are usually reserved for "this is going ahead, it's now just about the fine details" rather than "we are floating the idea to decide if possible or not".

Interesting that no matches to be played there which puts Casey firmly into play for VFL etc

This is really to try and get as many additional members as we can, given it is a big growth area out that way.

If we want to compete financially with Collingwood, Richmond and Carlton we have to find a way to get to 80k+ members.

There's already a racecourse, train station, high school and university right there. If you're a local and you didn't already have complaints, I don't see why this would suddenly create complaints.

Completely agree @seventyfour.

The land once developed would provide for a greater amount of space accessible for the community compared to what it is right now. Some areas at the moment are simply marsh lands unusable to anyone. These complaints are from people who just want to complain/object just for the sake of it.

I see no negative impacts of our proposed plan for the community, only gain. Similar to what the Hawks are doing on an old waste site, repurposing the land. Theirs is a tip, ours is under-utilised land in the middle of a racecourse.

NIMBYS are a plague.

I'm afraid some people don't need a reason 74.

Our footy club has not had a 'true' home since 1964. Accordingly,  I cannot understand any negativity directed toward this proposal.  Caulfield is a central location, close to public transport and for the first time in a long time, will house both our administrative and football departments in the same facility.

How on earth can that be seen as negative?

There are probably those who still believe our home should be in the MCG precinct.

Question.  Is there any club that makes their players drive over an hour to get to training sessions at Cranbourne or sometimes 90 minutes in heavy traffic.  Not sure it’s favourable compared with Cats, Bombers, Pies, Blues training arrangements.  Caulfield would be a perfect location.  Make it happen and like Geelong, made the state government pay for it !!!!

No doubt.  But then we all have to face reality at some stage.  Like I said in my original post, we have not had a true home since 1964.  A rather long time, I would have thought.  In today's competitive AFL world, you must take the most realistic option.  Even when it may not be your first choice.

Perhaps over the last 20 years but the Lexus Centre itself has a shelf life, just like Punt Road. As a facility it’ll drift towards the back of the pack given the limited space / development potential

Doesn't really matter, we've got Casey facilities, so having a base that is in or near the heartland is symbolic more than anything.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
