Has anyone ever been to Happy Valley in Hong Kong? They have a couple of rugby and soccer pitches in the middle, and the Hong Kong Rugby Club facilities inside. It’s more like a country club, with outdoor pool and bars. All that for a semi-professional sporting club. It’s sensational and is a big hit with the expats in HK. This proposal has huge potential

KITP - I presume that you are not proposing a relocation to Hong Kong, but I guess rather a happy ending?

No, I’m proposing we see the potential of an amazing facility that could be built at Caulfield, in the same style has what has been done in HK at HV, the result of which would be a happy ending for all

Would have been done if this was the case, there’s a definite issue with both local & state gvt, club needs to clarify what the issues are. Unfortunately previous administrators signed this deal with Casey years ago & whilst it’s yielded premierships across all of the teams it’s not realistic to expect players etc to drive and 1 hr to train. Will keep on saying has the club looked at the Port Melb ground ripe for development in area which will see a huge population growth over the next decade.

You do realise that players who live on the Mornington Peninsula for example spend more time getting to AAMI park than Casey?

Players live all over the city. For some Casey is more easily accessible and for others it is not.

Not every player wants to drive in peak hour into the city.

We are all keen to get a top notch facility for our club as close to the MCG as possible, but the reality is that most of our players don't live next door to Richmond so most don't care about the drive to Casey. All they want is top quality facilities like every other club.

Our best chance of a new Facility being within the MCG Precinct, is to be part of the Great Southern Stand rebuild

It is the only way it can happen, apart from Carpark E & F at Gosch’s…

As I recall deep in ancient times North Melbourne had a dog track.

Thats nothing. The old Bangkok Int Airport  Don Mueang has a 18h golf course running between the two main runways . Players would have to wait as 747 jumbos cruised on by. No fences.

Amazing Thailand

I know it’s been covered but has the club looked at this …. Whilst Eddie time was up he was instrumental in getting Olympic park which Gutnick knocked back saying we couldn’t afford it!

Eddie McGuire revealed this morning where he would look to relocate the Melbourne Football Club if he was in charge of the Demons.

The Melbourne board revealed at their recent AGM that they are looking for a new permanent training & administration base.

Eddie has suggested that Port Melbourne would be an ideal base for the Demons going forward.

"I'd go to Port Melbourne, I'd go and do a deal with Port Melbourne and build a magnificent facility down there," Eddie said.

"I'd even try and do a deal with Port Melbourne (football club) to make them the VFL team, they wear the same colours.

Port had an interclub match at Gosch's last Friday and we regularly use their ground for closed training's.

Someone on Demonland said that Port is definitely, NOT interested in combining with us.

I like it

A lot.

Was there today for the first day of the new monthly craft markets in be middle of the track (wife has an earring business side hustle and goes to various markets).

It's a cracker venue. Easy to access. Heaps of room. Heaps of current facilities for social functions - that are really underutilised. Not in the MCG precinct but close enough to it for the average SE suburb Demon supporter

Did you buy a toasted sandwich from the caravan at that market? Unbelievably good

The MFC Board Election is being characterised by some as an opportunity to merely endorse the current Board because our teams have been performing well on the field over the last two years. It seems to me that the area where we chronically underperform off the field is in relation to securing a home base for our players and members. The current Board clearly don't have the skills to resolve this issue so maybe it is time for a new face on the Board. A close look at Phil Reed's business webpage would suggest that he might be able to deliver something our club has lacked since we left the MCG nearly 40 years ago - a home for us all.

Probly been shouted down already, but isn't Caufield Racecourse being redeveloped? Good public transport, not far from the Monash, etc.....

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
