A lot of ‘spamming’ happening on these boards.

Are there any mods about?

All for it, of course, who wouldn't be, but we're basically looking at a combination of Kolodjashnij and VDB, with a dose of the Trengoves thrown in. If he can get back would be phenomenal, but it's a big if. No-one's been able to get him going for the last 3 years, so I'd be wary of the "we've finally worked out what's wrong" talk.

Oh and on that clip, had to laugh with the final comment from Derwayne - "forget the icing on the cake, that is the caviar'.

Caviar on cake, sounds like a normal evening meal for Derwayne.   Dude is a nutter.

Hopefully.  with our improved medical team it may happen.  Hawks seem to have an amazing medical team to fix players other clubs couldn't.   So fingers crossed if he joins us.

Agree. But it's virtually zero cost other than a few thousand bucks for him to train with us over the summer. If he breaks down at any stage that's it. If he gets through the summer we'll have a good idea on whether to gamble on minimum wages for 2020. The loss if it fails is minute. And lets face it based on the past 4 years don't hold your breath. But if it works. Oo La La!! And either way it's worth it just for a few weeks of excitement at a dead time of the year.

Are we leaking or getting bent over, I’m unsure.

Might be that we’re the only ones offering a senior list spot as opposed to rookie list spot.

Peter Bruckner, who was also the doctor at Liverpool FC and Darren Burgess would have the final say.  If we take him I think they would be backing themselves to fix the chronic issues he has had.  They seem to have some form.

Bennell has chronic calve issues.

Former Docker Harley Bennell
appears certain to be thrown AFL lifeline by Melbourne Demons after medical went ‘very well’

The headline doesn’t really match the content of the article but exciting nonetheless.

We do appear to be the team most likely to land him.

??

Totally agree RL.

Bennell looks a real chance

Martin still can pick him if we have the balls and money fir 2 years

I still rate Sam Gray Lachie Henderson snd  Maybe Sam Murray as players who could play a role in 2020 (and beyond) if we take a chance

Gray is a Corey Wagner type who is more advanced and kicks goals

Henderson is an  experienced and versatile KPF and KPD who on a one year contract would give great depth while not undermining Harry Petty's career development.

Murray is a speedster who may be fast on a wing or on half back especially if injuries occur.

Supporters don't realise that the more you raise the bar in depth means the more the young developing players have to go to forge their career. It's a win win.

Last  years draft youngsters need to be challenged for their position for the Seniors through improvement and training and therein also lies the creation of depth and culture which exists at Clubs like Cats Hawks Swans And now Tigers And we need to foster this from 2018 and before but went missing last year in the medical room and surgery recovery workout gyms and running tracks!

Top10 draft picks 3 and 8 will raise the confidence enthusiasm and skill level for all at the Club in 2020 and well beyond.

Changes of Coaching, Medical and Performance and Conditioning Experts plus a revised and tweaked game plan are also a sure fire way of improving output and results this season if all are on board and united which seems potentially probable at this stage early as it may be.

Yes momentum is rising and I really don't think the words basket case have any right to be uttered over our last 5 years NOR this year either.

St Kilda is also rumoured to be interest in recruiting the delisted Docker, with SEN reporting the Saints and Demons split the costs to fly Bennell over from Perth."

Having played little footy in the past 4 years the chances of him staying on the park in the future are almost nil.  even if we pay him very little it is not worth it imo.  pick a kid in the draft and see how he goes.

he is saying all the right things to get a contract but he lacks the passion to play footy.

Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond play on the G as tenant clubs.

Surely he doesn’t want to play at the G for a tenant club - it’s far better to play at the G for the landlord * club.

* not literally in a proprietary interest sense, moreso in a historical, moral, we invented the game, traditional ‘owners’ etc sense.

Geez I hope we land this bloke.

Yes I was a Mod in the mid sixties.

Bennell has the potential to be our Shaun Burgoyne.

I remember watching a few games when he was at the Suns thinking this guy is ridiculous. If he can get back to even half of that form on a consistent basis, we’ll have a ripper here.

Maxy Gawn just followed Harley Bennell on Instagram..

Dub - Regardless of the on-field outcome, I'd happily sacrifice a list spot for the statement it makes and the small skerrick of excitement it brings to the supporters. The wage will probably pay for itself in memberships within a week of the signing.

It's official then.

Just out of curiosity, and because the AFL changes rules more than people change underwear.... do we need to wait until the pre-season draft (is that even a thing now?) to pick him up, or can we sign him up anytime?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
