fr_ap 2,566 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Rantall is a big no go. His kicking is absolutely atrocious. Quote
Mach5 4,768 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I've decided I don't rate Gould or Rivers. Gould is just a big man beating up boys, but won't get it his way at AFL level. Rivers is just a slightly more polished Josh Wagner. We can do better at 30. Quote
Clintosaurus 7,953 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 If Robertson is gone or we don't trade up, my preference is Sharp then Dylan Williams. Don't mind Ralphsmith or Schoenberg either. 1 Quote

Don't mind Ralphsmith or Schoenberg either. I somewhat agree with that order. If all the above are gone or we go left field/absolute needs based, Brock Smith would be a very solid selection as a mid sized defender with excellent kicking skills and decision making. Very dependable player in an area where we are light on for quality depth and/or prospects given Frost's departure: Petty training with the forwards Oscar's questionable future Wagner being average depth, Hore only entering his 2nd season Ageing Hibberd Ageing NevJet May's & Lever being prone to injury KKs questionable future 1 Quote
In Harmes Way 7,869 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 According to the below article, we can't trade future selections unless we replenish our future first round. On this basis, I can't see us trading up in this draft (unless I'm missing something). https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-draft-2019-future-picks-2020-draft-indicative-draft-order/news-story/9d34c5ddb8cc52e6b8b52310da7979dd 1 Quote

We currently have 74 which may come into about 67 post Hawthorn and Port matching bids. I doubt we can make anything meaningful out of those picks though. Quote
dazzledavey36 56,339 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) Trent Rivers heavily linked to Brisbane. Edited November 28, 2019 by dazzledavey36 1 Quote

Reliable if not flashy ball winner, solid as a rock skills, good size and decent athletic potential that should easily take to AFL conditioning - he missed all preseason with glandular fever. He's exactly the kind of player Brisbane have been drafting for a while now. Only thing he's missing is he's from WA not Country Victoria! 1 Quote
DistrACTION Jackson 10,740 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Trent Rivers is good mates with my brother, so I'm hoping he goes to the Dees. Unlikely he slips that far, but you never know. I'd also love Jeremy Sharp, reminds me a bit of Jayden Short which is the type of player I think we need to develop to replace Hibberd. I think I'm leaning towards one of the WA kids as it would always be good for Jackson to have one of his mates there with him. Plus they won the championships so they must be pretty decent players. 7 Quote
Dirts 429 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 PICK 32: MELBOURNE – HUGO RALPHSMITH Clubs: Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro Position: Outside Midfielder/Medium Forward Size: 188cm, 75kg Bio: Ralphsmith might not have put together a complete game at all levels in 2019, but what he showed will make a number of clubs tempted to use an early selection on the 17-year-old. Ralphsmith was used deep forward by Haileybury College throughout 2019, but was pushed up the ground by Vic Metro and Sandringham Dragons. He has X-Factor and looked most at home playing across half-forward where he used his speed and class with aplomb. The Victorian could develop into one of the steals of the draft when looking back in a number of years. 1 Quote
Mach5 4,768 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Going by the AFL website, it looks like Dylan Williams as the next best is more obvious than I realised. Would be very happy with him, but still plenty of options. 1 Quote

Half forward with good speed and skills. Went missing a lot in the champs, which is why he wasn't in the top 20 mix, had a slight injury cloud. Good in SANFL reserves, can kick bags, but don't think he's what we'll be looking for. Would have liked more consistent performance from him, at the back of last year he was in the mix to be the first SA boy picked. 1 Quote

imElated 4 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) I really hope we get Darcy Cassar, great user of the ball and can find quite a bit of it, prefers getting the ball on the outside but is still a strong tackler, he's had a 41 disposal game in NAB League and already has a body thats ready for senior football.
