I can't imagine anything coming out of this other than platitudes, " we understand how disappointed the fans were", we're on the right track etc etc

The email that announced it made it clear they won't be fielding questions related to any off field issues which only leaves onfield and I can't imagine they'll be going into depth about gameplans and the like

No, it doesn't bother me because it's history. I am interested in what actions have been taken to address the issues.

There is plenty of evidence to show the Club taking action to rectify things. Taking note of what has been changed, what I've read leads me to conclude that the Club has been very active.

I can see that it bothers you and I don't know how much attention you've been paying but listen to the Burgess interview and follow up with the Lystics AFL podcast and then look at what has been done and you will see the correlation. If someone wants to go along to the forum and bleat about the past season and they haven't done their due diligence , then I will continue to think of them as a Muppet.

No. It’s not a matter of bleating. What happened between September ‘18 and September ‘19 was more than a small problem, and yes i am aware that some changes are happening as we speak.
But what happened at The MFC doesn’t happen at most other Clubs, other Clubs fight through problems, and often prosper.
I want to know why the MFC keeps falling over as soon as Roos and Jackson leave.
Most serious problems, like what we all saw don’t last 12 months, but they do at Melbourne.
I hope the reason for this forum is to finally address this issue once and for all, and I applaud Pert for having it.

Your familiar with the word "coincidence"?  I agree a lot went wrong but I don't see any other teams starting there preseasons with 16 of the top 22 players having had surgery. We were in unfamiliar territory going deep into September. As long as we have taken the learnings from it I will continue to remain positive about the future. Yes, there were many other "learning" opportunities but you can only judge the team on the season they are focused on. The angst and impatience exhibited on this site are completely understandable but we need to be careful we don't turn into Richmond pre their recent success. If you believe that the course is true you need to maintain confidence you will reach the destination. If not then why are you on the journey?

I am hoping the reason for this forum is to explain what went wrong. The AGM is about the on going journey

Does anyone think they will (or could) say anything beyond the sorts of issues we've all been discussing for the last 10 months?  If not, then the only issue will be the relative weight given to each and to the perfect storm argument.  Since it is hard to see any of this being quantified beyond what we already know, I expect whatever reasons are given for 2019 they won't be believed by those who think differently.  But nevertheless eager to read the reports of attendees.

If the Forum comes across as “Honest” in terms of questions, discussions and even debate then i think it is worthwhile.
if it is a closed shop, where certain things are not discussed then it will serve no use at all

From the email sent on Sep 12:

"We are a member-based club, and for that reason we will have a Post-Season Member Forum every year. The forum will focus solely on on-field performance and the elements that drive our football program. This year it will allow members to hear from the leaders of the club about the specific dynamics that affected our performance in 2019. Members will hear our learnings and our planned response to ensure continual improvement. The forum will also give you as a member, the opportunity to ask questions about our performance in 2019 and our plans for 2020."

I expect it to be tightly controlled and pretty much one way traffic. It could get ugly if they simply hand the agenda to the members. Pert will have experience with this from Collingwood AGMs where it was all buttoned down to protect from unruly elements.

I look forward to the bleating of dissatisfaction on here with the answers given.

@Nasher   bleating, that's very polite, I am just hoping some of the harshest critics on here  turn up,  now they have the chance to come from behind the anonymity of their keyboard and ask a question face to face. I have four ready to go, if not answered and the floor is opened, and I 'love' the club, must remember to take of rose coloured glasses though

I thought you'd be the one answering the questions Saty?

I'll prepare the answers now:

1) Everyone was injured before and during the season....

2) We struggled with the new positioning rules....

3) We struggled with not having the runners on the field....

4) Coaching staff re-structure mid-season threw everything out the window, we started again....

5) it is the year of the Pig...?

perhaps but why ?

Of course the cop out is see 1 but why if so did we have 4.

Interestingly 1964 was the year of the Dragon... which comes around again in 2024. Not sure it's that auspicious as the last year of the Dragon was 2012 and we finished 16th with only the newly admitted GWS and Suns beneath us.

What are the chances some muppet gets up and harangues the officials about last year. This is my only concern about spending the time to attend.

If we get a reasonable update directly from Goodwin , Pert and Bartlett and they don't talk in platitudes when answering questions it might be worth attending.

Some intelligent questions would go a long way as well. Things that have been queried here recently would be good. Eg; What's going on with the Coaching Panel and the appointment of a Forwards coach.

For myself, I would like to know if we have approached the MCC about access to the ground for Pre-Season training even if we only get it once or twice.

Good summary of  reasonable expectations for tonight. I hope my time won't be wasetd.

Action not words MR?

But they need to explain themselves over the car crash of 2019 to some degree to give confidence that lessons have been learnt and solutions prepared.

Like the 2018 Prelim - you ignore failure at your peril.

And the questions from the attendees:

1. Who are we picking in the draft? Why aren't we picking so-and-so?

2. How many Brownlow votes is Petracca going to get next season?

3. I've been on the MCC waiting list for ages, when will it come through do you think?

4. I went to apply for a medallion club membership and the sheila on the other end of the phone was rude and hung up on me. What bay will my seats be in?

5. When do finals tickets go on sale this year?

6. Gil talks a big game about improving things but I found some mistakes in the footy record a few times this year. How long do we have to put up with this?

It still beggars belief the light off hand way they seemingly treated that loss. Also heard Goodloss say at the start of 2019 on SEN that they would not change much in the game plan because of the 666 rule change.

Will the admin be wearing white mole skins this year or are they going back to the camel?

I thought all the young men we pay looked magnificent in the white but when we lost 6 on the trot and they were still talking up our chances and justifying their jobs I thought they should probably just go back to basic denim.

Are we planning on hiring more PR staff to tell us how good we will be in 2021 or should we just plan for 22 now?

Also , is it possible to just give the whole club 10 year contracts hoping this breeds loyalty and that job security and contentment will bring about a flag?

Audience in attendance so far is heavily skewed in favour of the... well, 'older' demographic.

I wonder if the bloke from the AGM is here who asked...

7.  Why are the beer prices at the bar so expensive?
