Interesting...

I'm torn as to whether he would actually improve us. He'd probably compete with Weideman for the second forward spot. I guess it's a depth thing as well.

Depends on the price, I guess.

Its Not as if Weeds is a proven consistent performer as yet. He has time but would love another Tall, Would take any of in preferential order Gunston, Casboult, Jenkins easy!

Talk he might be off to the Bombers now!

I wonder if the rumour re listed to Cox but the destination club was muddled.

I don't want Cox (leave it alone ds)

For anyone wondering the key forwards of any interest that come out of contract at the end of next year are:

Ben Brown

Ben King

Brody Mihocek

Jeremy Cameron (RFA)

Mason Wood (RFA)

Patrick McCartin

By no means the full list as at trade time anyone and everyone seems to be gettable regardless of contract. Pretty slim pickings if you ask me, and I’m of the view that Cameron wont leave the Giants. The interesting ones are King and Brown which could definitely be gettable

I am excited by the player, he is not a battler, but a player who has kicked quite a few goals against us (but thats not hard as we have always allowed players to kick modern day bags of 4-5 against us!).

I gather you have no more news as yet.

Gunston?

Breust or gunston  both make sense. Good kicks. Hawks have recent history of moving long term players on. Are rebuilding. And maybe keen in frost. Straight swap?

Same.  Might explain why the offer was never tabled to Frost (as of yet anyway).

Wouldn't surprise if Yokozuna was playing games

Yoko was spot on more than once in 2018 when it came to team changes. Would post them well before the official announcement, if it’s the same source there could well be something brewing here. That’s my belief anyway dd.

I don’t know why he can’t just name the player.

It better not be Mason Cox after Basil Mason (the writer) or Mason Basil (the way hipsters grow Basil), I’ll throw up.

Examples please of 2018 changes he predicted.

I searched the AFL lists and couldn't find him on any list ... what game is he actually playing?

How dare you accuse someone on the site of making up stuff ?.

I will ease your minds and say it isn’t Cox or anyone from that club!

However, I do have a very good source and I am glad some people remember my team announcements in previous years!!

I just haven’t been on the site much this year, as I honestly couldn’t sit through most of the rubbishy being written on here!

it was bad enough watching us play, but rewind stuff on here just made it worse!!

As I said, I promised my source I wouldn’t name the player, but he is from a club that are possibly needing to shed some players or $$ this trade period.

That was most likely the smart thing to do

Membrey.

I would like it to be membrey or Bruce, as I know they always beat us, but it isn’t.

As I said, you will be surprised!!

Casboult? Surely the Blues, with Betts (albeit not with a ton for them to pay), Papley and Martin all on the way in need to make some space. Also been some (internet) rumours they may chase Gaff, so they will need to be cutting back elsewhere. They've delisted/retired 6 players and already have 3/4 coming in pre-draft, so may need list spots too.

Hawkins

I hope not. Or hope so. I'm not sure.

Gunston?

Clues:

  • A key forward (are correct to assume a big?)
  • Victorian club
  • But not pies
  • And not membrey or Bruce
  • A club who needs to shed some players or $$ this trade period
  • Would be a surprise

Cats might be looking to make a play for Cameron with Kelly’s compensation.

Think they’ve tried before...

Hawkins does perform well against us, and, being a Cat through and through, it would surprise.

If I’m right, and I’m usually not, I don’t think I’d like it.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
