What’s he worth in terms of a pick coming our way ?

Mid to late 2nd rd pick I’d say.

First round pick according to some on here.

Ha.  The greatest full back of all time

I feel a bit devastated about losing Frost. Why did we never offer a contract to him and why does he want to leave?

I mean when Lever and May went down he was there. I thought he did a good job. Ok he may have turned the ball over a few times, but his pace was good and he was a long kick.

Surely 2 first rounders give he played more games than Lever?

jokes

Sounds about right given he’s a future Brownlow Medalist.

This is cooked.

In a slow team we’re letting genuine speed walk out the door.

For sure, didn’t think about that. Hell make it three first rounders!

PS For what it’s worth, I don’t want him to go

The hawks are really going down swinging.

A crocked Patton and now Frosty. Topping up only works when you have when you have a talented core group

Hawks have pick 30ish. It will probably be that.

Close enough to his value. Would like it to be 5 picks earlier, but not going to happen.

He cost us an early second rounder, I'd say we'd get a second rounder back.  He's a better player now than when we acquired him.

Hawks fans genuinely believig he’ll be a decent replacement for Frawley. Good luck to them, hope they have some decent heart medication

He wanted to much money.

I reckon he has read the tea leaves that with a fit list he is not in our first team.

He would get more money and a longer deal at hawks so fair enough leaving

Although it is 50/50 whether the door will be open as he tries to go through it! :D

I'm just being silly of course.  Frost leaving is unfortunate but such is life, this is not going to be some team-breaking disaster. As has been discussed, there are significant upsides and downsides to Frost. Whatever the flaws and even if he is at Hawthorn he'll retain my respect as a player who very often made extra efforts that mattered.

With the magic alternate universe that Hawthorn trades in, I wonder if we'll get more for him than GWS get for Patton?

Frost and our pick 40 for the Hawk’s pick 30?? I’d suggest they’d rather give us their pick 47 as a straight swap for Sam.

Gunston would be a player we could look at in a trade.

We could look at him, but I doubt he would look at us.

26-year-old key position player. We are letting him walk out the door. I hope we know what we're doing.

If that’s what they’re offered I’d just say he goes into the draft and we pick him up again. For once using a bit of bargaining power melbourne!

For me our defence works with him being in there with May and Lever fit. May takes big body #1, Frost takes big body #2, Lever floats as the interceptor, Nev small defender, Hibberd flanker #1, Salem flanker #2.

Sell it to him Melbourne, make him feel wanted!

Utterly ludicrous we are letting him walk. A back 6 of May, Lever, Jetta, Hibberd, Hore, and Frost is solid af. Instead, we lose both Lewis and Frost in the offseason, bring in some outside wingers but now are resigned to playing a backline with little depth, and OMac or one of the Wagners automatically fitting into the side.

Goodwin and co. better have some chips up their sleeve because they appear to be going all in on Tomlinson and Langdon. We're now set to lose our second key position player in two offseasons. I just don't understand it.

Meanwhile the small forwards we are BEGGING for are choosing [censored] St Kilda, Bulldogs or Carlton over us. It's like we take two steps forward two steps back every year.

Five years ago we couldn't buy a decent midfielder. We had key forwards in Clarke, Howe, and some potential down back. Then we stacked ourselves with midfielders at the draft but suffered down back. Now we've stacked our backline, lost our best forward through no fault of our own, let a key position backman walk out, and bring in some wingers because we need outside pace. Meanwhile, nothing on the small forward front. I don't know what's going on.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
