Jennings wasn’t let go because he couldn’t adapt. He has been doing his certificate 4 in coaching and wants to coach his own team in his own right and will eventually coach an AFL club.

Are you part of his paid PR team that went a long way to costing him his job?

None of us outside the coaches box know how brilliant technically he is or isn’t. But Melbourne’s structures this year and even last don’t seem to work at the mcg which happens to be our home ground and where the gf is played. He has to take some responsibility for that.

I doubt very much he will end up a senior coach

I find Jennings to be very driven but also very uninspiring.

He's doing all in his power to make it as a senior coach even to the extent of taking on a PR person which I find a bit odd.

I personally don't think he will make it based on what I have heard from him.

If he had a PR team then he was getting paid too much. Imagine having your senior strategist having no respect for the wing position when you play home games at the G. Disgraceful.

He got heavily involved with medicos ( not in a good way) when jack had his foot problems. he;s not a doctor and should have stayed out of it.

This was the early debacle I am referring to.

It was reported in one of the articles when it was announced he was parting from the club that he had a PR team and that was causing friction within the club.

If true this saddens me. If only because he has been a positive force and now he will get potted unmercifully on DL as are most who dont go out in a box.

Who died?

There has been no indication that it ever was a conflict of interest.  You would like to think that Todd is professional enough to not allow that to happen.  I'd wager that, if it did, then Peter Jackson would have stepped in to remove him from the role a long time ago.

Either way, we will agree to disagree on that point.  One thing we do agree on is that it's a positive move for the club.  Todd has been there long enough.  Time for some fresh faces.

It wouldn’t have been overt conflict of interest. Just an implied unhappiness if his son didn’t get picked or was demoted from the captaincy, etc......

So..... has Todd left yet?

No, I spoke to him today, he was hoping for at least 10 pages on here, with the same post reposted but said in 25 different ways,  before it was announced officially

Besides which he is waiting for @Sir Why You Little to imply when it will be announced

Wouldn't be surprised if he was one to walk in the big change though

I've heard from an inside source that ine of the water girls is unhappy with the way Goody flippantly tossed the water bottle back to her, after having a drink at training, that she is leaving...

Watch this space for more

Sorry to see Todd go he has always been rock solid at the Dee’s, however to me he appeared z bit tired in his last couple of interviews and 2019 would wear anyone a bit thin...!!!!

Whether todd is leaving or not l don't know, but the lack of appreciation for his efforts by many is appalling. Prior to him moving to list management and recruitment our drafting was terrible. Lost count how many first round picks we had that returned donuts.

Likewise the suggestions of conflict of interest. Jack is captain because he is driven and leads by example. Just needs helping managing his body and some decent sports science staff.

Do we know anyone that can replace her and has experience catching water bottles, thrown by Clarko?

We should settle for no one but the best. Someone who has a great win loss record. We should be targeting Clarkson or Simpson. Anyone else is just another example of Melbourne settling for other clubs rejects again.

Sorry i disagree, a coach is undoubtely important, but other teams have won premierships without Clarkson or Simpson. The players need to step up and take ownership for their on field performance, or lack there of as well.  A coach can only do so much from the sidelines and with the players available.

Well, I guess you could look at Chris Scott's Geelong, but I think game style is a big failure at our club in 2019 and that falls at the feet of the coach.

I WAS wondering...but that's hilarious !!!  well done  :) :) :)

One of the Sams on SEN a short time ago continuing on with Todd leaving us but no further info into his future.

I thought I also heard him say this will be our last coaching/FD change heading into 2020. I might have heard wrong though as there were a couple of ‘cheerful’ school kids in the car. Anyone else hear it this morning?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG.
