If

the AFL was worried before the Demons' presentation to the commission on Tuesday ...

then

it is even more worried now. And unlike the Suns, it won't be offering priority national draft assistance.

Anyone care to take a guess what he's talking about. Why are we back to being a basket case in the space of 12 months?

I read it and I thought; "WTF is that supposed to mean?"

The won’t be offering priority national draft assistance gets me, what’s Purple on about?

Did we disclose that half the team wants out or something?

Pretty easy, aging list, no superstars or few coming through, on field, sale of pokies, revenue comes from?, a coach that is useless, a head of FD that has more lives than a cat, near certainty to lose thousands of members next year..........

Barrett is a tool. His grasp of the English language is limited and his intellect is worse. He just likes the sound of his own voice.

Ageing list?

Only guessing, but there's plenty of rumours around about big name players requesting trades. So that, potentially combined with the terrible financial forecast for this year could have painted a pretty bleak picture.

This is a rubbish . There is no truth to this article. This is more reflective of the clabrre of the journalist than the facts.

Lewis, Jones, Hibberd, Jetta, May, all not getting any younger then you have the bottom tier which are VFL players. If we end up being 5 years away, it is relevant, then you have Gawn 28, how long can he be the battering ram? I'm willing to give them a good pre season under a new regime but there are certainly many red flags, especially if key players want out.

Seriously - how stupid you all are. Why woudl be believe what some oen writes. One with logic woudl ask how would a jurno know the detsils of a confidential meeting that had nothing to do with what he is writting about. Wake people

AFL House leaks like a sieve!  Barrett is an AFL employee.  Join the dots.

There's a facebook parody page called 'If Damien Barrent said this then', this could have seriously come from that. He's a massive [censored] which is why there a re very few clubs who actually talk to him, so he makes most things up.

He has always hated us, but kissed our [censored] last year. Back to hating us again. He is a Norf supporter which says a lot.

Journos constantly make up stuff and get away with it.

Only a week or so ago the rumours were Coniglio was leaving for the Blues, then all of a sudden he signs a 7 year deal to stay at GWS.

The fact is they have no idea and use words like 'alleged' or 'according to sources' to make up stuff and put it in an article.

They are leaches.

This doesn't bode well, I'm anticipating a big name such as a Petracca or a Brayshaw to be requesting a trade

Already have a bad sense about Hunt as well

Of course the AFL are furious ... the Demons are playing the wrong code... The players drafted, the coaching and style of play is more suited to Rugby League.. NO wonder the injuries piled up.

Barrett has only provided a launch pad of a “I told ya’s so” here if anything does come up.

It’s just a nothing comment in his ridiculously immature weekly dribble.

No Anzac eve, no Queens birthday, no pokies, particularity poor attendance in the run home. I suspect that will equate to a massive financial loss. If I was the AFL commission I'd be worried about that too.

May be so but fair chance he has been 'briefed' by someone at the AFL on what our problems are.

WOW - people falling for this [censored]'s tricks! he says vague BS to start people panicing and thinking up what could be wrong.  he is often found to be incorrect and there are zero consequences when it happens.

either say something concrete Barrett or [censored] off!

Usual cycle happening here...

Dees are terrible.

Dees fans complain they're terrible.

Journo says Dees are terrible.

Dees fans turn on journo.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
