Pick 3 is worth more than Pick 3 this year! It might as well be Pick 1...

Teams need to pay overs if they want it! It’s not a like for like pick as far as the points system says so...

It is a Nugget of a Pick especially for the Dees (because we have it) and the Giants (because they need it and other teams might want it)!

Have you ever considered a role in real estate?

Thanks....I thought the same thing but as I had never herd the term before it interested me.

Would also be useful if they listed things like left or right footed and my favourite.... can kick both feet and turn both ways.

What Jack Dyer may have referred to as 'balanced and amphibious'.

it's going to be interesting to see what happens

i'm not sure we'll necessarily look to add a player from gw$

i wonder if pick 6, pick 18 and a future first would be TOO much draft collateral for the franchise to give away in order to get it...

if they came with that sort of offer it'd be pretty tempting

With GWS chasing pick 3 and Geelong also wanting a pick in the top ten, maybe we could try something like this?

Trade 3 and future second(hawks) to GWS for 6 and Caldwell (or another decent player)

Then on trade 6 and 50 to Geelong for 14 and 17  and hope to get Weightman at 14.

I also think we should give Sam murray a chance as he will cost us nothing.

IN: Tomlinson, Langdon, Caldwell, Murray, Picks 14 (Weightman), 17, 26

Out: Frost, Pick 3, 22, 41, Future second

I would be setting the bar pretty high for both teams.

Giants, if you want pick 3, we'd like pick 6 and an established best 22 player, Jeremy Finlayson would help the forward line out.

Cats because you don't have a top 10 pick we'd like 14, 17 and a best 22 player,

otherwise just take 3 to the draft grab Young or Serong and get a young gun who's going to play in 2020 and help the side out for the next decade.

yep they're the same deals I was thinking of too. we could set ourselves right up if we managed to pull it off.

Caldwell would be a good get, but I doubt they'd let him go unless they were desperate. would be very happy to get him and pick 6 for pick 3 though, he would add a good point of difference to our midfield.

then we could entertain trading with Cats if we are after a couple of role players like small forwards or a defender, who will likely go later anyway. the good thing is we don't have to do anything. let those teams come at us with all they've got.

Serong could still possibly be around at 6 too, due to his smaller size than the usual inside bulls.

It sounds like Mahoney has suggested we're after a pretty extraordinary deal, otherwise we're very happy to take pick 3 to the draft.

The longer we hold out and the closer we get to the deadline, the more chance we have of one team panicking a little and giving in to our demands.

Not sure how but I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see us involved with ESS/SYD/CARL in regards to Daniher and Papley to somehow snag 5 and 9

I heard Mahoney on MMM this morning. He said he is still on the phone this weekend. Didn’t go into specifics but sounds like we’ll be looking at splitting the pick.

5 and 9 for 3...

Would you also be interested in a second hand set of jousting sticks?

about time for a poll isn't it mods? to split, or not to split....that is the question.

I've been meaning to do this for the last few days. It should be at the top of the page now.

Too hard to really determine if we should split it or not without knowing the deal.

Should we split it for a top 10 and late first round; may be. Should we split it for whatever the cats have (two late firsts); no way.

Finally, I can contribute something a little useful on this topic by selecting undecided.

I'm not in favour of swapping pick 3 for 2 first rounders. I'd only consider trading pick 3 if we are able to bring in at least a player (along with a pick if said player isn't worth pick 3 on their own).

Yep ... undecided here as well DZ

Let's just say we got picks 8 & 12 for pick 3.  And then we go to the draft.

You're still holding your breath.  For long periods of time (unless it's an Oliver type)

But if we traded the pick for proven talent I'd have no interest in what pick 3 actually delivers.

Couldn't care less because the decsion has been made and it's final.  You can't have regrets with drafting.  There's no point.

Make the decision and live with the decision.

If GWS manage to pry pick 4 from Adelaide somehow and offer it to us with sweeteners (Additional pick/player) then it’s a no brainer.

”Here is pick 3, take it but leave player x alone”.

My thoughts are if we’re splitting the pick then I’d look for a return of a top 10-15 pick and a player that is either walk up best 22 or bloody close and on the up (preferably will skill and pace in the package). Going to the draft with two lower first round picks is a lottery whereas pick 3 (while still a bit of a lottery) is giving us the 3rd crack at the best talent.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
