That’s also what you want as a footy club, if you can push up a players wages/contract years that eats into the other clubs salary cap structure then even if you don’t sign said player it can be a bonus outcome.

Firstly, they have an abundance of his type of player, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if he left. Secondly, they have too many stars that they need to re-sign next year.
