We cannot lose Trac.  our forward line cannot take another hit after losing Hogan.

he has plenty of scope for improvement and is finally getting consistent. his next 5 years will be very good

do what you need to to keep him MFC

I’ve heard bulldogs are in to him and have offered him more midfield time. Not sure how credible.

How long before every club is into him?

Trac’s manager: “Hi Goody, a number of teams have enquired into Christian, he’s happy at Melbourne but he wants more time in the midfield, these teams are offering Christian the chance to play as a pure mid. What can Melbourne do?”

Goody: (staring blankly at the clock on the wall behind the manager’s head for a minute and a half) Ummmmmmm, I’d like to say I have an answer but I don’t. Look, just tell him it’s about the ‘journey’ and ‘the four walls’ but really stress the journey part.”

Don't think there is much to this, he wanted more midfield time and was frustrated with how the team went this year like everyone. but sounds like they're on the same page with that now.

The last thing the Dogs need are more midfielders.  Reckon they have one of the best in the comp right now.

Well if we’re considering rumours of SG movements based on some tea leaves then....

Speaking of which, did I miss a bit announcement on Sunday?

How do they all fit?

Scratch that. Trac is huge. Could easily fit the cats in him.

Another team will turn Petracca into a star.

I would cry myself to sleep if I was a top 10 pick drafted by the Dees and I grew up dreaming about playing for the Dees.

Supporter comments like that is why we are such a naff club to start with.

I’ve said for a while now that I believe we have become just a feeder team for the bigger clubs. It just feels like the afl is becoming the epl more and more. Afl don’t really care either, bigger club’s success means more money for them. We are not a big club

That is correct ....and a retirement village for the maturing and semi-retired.

We are over a barrel copping it from both ends courtesy of Gil Tse-Tung, others before him and a fair contribution by ourselves over many decades.

with that statement - like your handle pal - u got to be kidding,  yourself...

please link how supporters comments influence the melbourne football clubs 'naffness'.

ps... just on Petracca. Any club in the league (including Melbourne) asks about everyone whom they think could fit their list profile, so it's a bit like hitting the dancefloor as a single person, and you see someone grooving around in a hot outfit - you only take em home, if they're keen too...

Surely as a football society - we have moved on from the romantic notion of a Chris Grant version of loyalty, from both players to clubs and clubs to players.

I'm with ugottobekiddong on this one. Supporters whingeing that we are hard done by impacts how our club is viewed within the broader AFL community.  Stop being naffs and playing the victim and start looking at what we can do.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
