They certainly are looking stronger if you look a little "green"

Fits our needs to a tee. Carries the Daniher name. Would come at a high cost with high risk, but if Darren Burgess isn't up to the challenge of rehabilitating a gun generational forward, then why did we appoint him? (Aside from getting our current list match fit for the rigors of 2020)

Isn't the word that, if he were to leave, it was to get out if the footy bubble of Melbourne?

That being said, if he was available, we'd be mad not to have a go

he hates the footy bubble of melbourne, but at close to $900k a year next year before he becomes a free agent, i can't see how sydney will be able to get it done with their salary cap squeeze

With Joe Daniher reported to be possibly on the market and being courted by the Swans, I wonder if there has been any thought given to luring him to the Dees?  He is obviously not without some risk however two years ago, before injury, he played 23 games and kicked 65 goals.

He has the height to play back-up ruck, is connected to Goodwin from his time at the Bombers and has a family connection to our club through Neil Daniher.

Joe could help us structurally by playing deep forward, bringing our smaller forwards into the game and freeing up Tom McDonald to use his tank and roam up the field.

I have heard it mentioned that he has a good character, is popular amongst his peers and a future leader, so maybe good for us off field as well.

What do other Demonlanders think? Do I have rocks in my head?

Injury prone player who struggles to get on the park. He'll fit right in. Where do we sign up?

Of course a fit JD would help us but Considering what Draft Picks we’d have to give and our crippling shortages in other areas, it is one I would never have even thought of.

At the price he'd require (in trade and cash), and with the obvious risks involved, and with his goalkicking accuracy a bit iffy, nope.

Restricted free agent next year, that might make things interesting if the injury situation starts to look less chronic.

Every reason to wait and see, no reason to chase now.

Would rather he stay injured on Essendon's list with a massive contract eating into their cap

I’m not saying we should get him but am surprised people are so quick to dismiss the idea. 65 goals 39 behinds in 2017 seems fairly accurate kicking to me, and had he kicked that this year it would probably win him the Coleman medal. His trade value is likely to be reduced given he has been out of the game for two years due to injury and the fact he is one year out from free agency. Maybe a late first round or early second round pick would be enough? Lewis retiring and Jones’ pay cut frees up some salary cap.

Also, outside of Jonathan Patton who seems destined for the Hawks, I am not sure there is any other more attractive and getable key position forward options available this year.

Would not been opposed to this if the new fitness guru has a chat with him. Very hard to stop on his day. If he is in a position to nominate Melbourne then it could come down to a salary cap dump.

Are essendon looking at big names or any of our surplus of inside mids (except oliver!)

Rocks I think. My mate an Essendon supporter would give him to us to ensure our continued misery.

Knowing the Bombers, they're likely to ask for 10 first round picks for him and not budge an inch.

That’s become a bit of a classic myth

Bombers get their deals done, same as most other clubs

Seems like he’s definitely on his way to Sydney, which I guess means Papley is definitely on his way to Carltank

Probably wants to get out of the spotlight that is football mad Melbourne. Sydney known to bring in players' wanting to 'escape' the footy world.

Will cost them an arm and a leg to get him. Not worth it for an injury riddled player whose groin is just about shot.

With their interest in Jack Martin, I'll be interested to see how they get both of those deals done with only Pick 8 to play with in terms of first rounders.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
