Gawn did not dominate.

His worst game for the year

He's injured.  Saw him grab his hammy (left from memory) earlyish in the second quarter. I think he's been carrying something for a couple of weeks.  I doubt he plays next week.

Why the hell would the kids continually bomb it in then? It's either the stupid game plan or the players are just plain lacking intelligence, probably both.

Exactly. Would have been better to kick the chaos ball along the ground like the Lions do even though we don’t have anything like a Charlie Cameron. Our midgets might have snagged a couple between their legs.

Cool mate, criticize their football all you want, all of them deserve it tonight and most of the year, I just don't see why it's necessary to hurl personal insults at them on the internet. It's not impressing anyone.

I'm not here to impress anyone princess. Don't like my opinion? Cool, stick me on ignore.

Harmes tries to break a tackle in the last, gets pinged and 3 Sydney blokes fall on top of him letting him know all about it and not a single teammate steps in. Yeah, Harmes stuffed up but someone step the hell in and help.

Sydney had a pack mentality tonight, don’t even know what to say about us anymore.

This. Has been happening all year. Shows complete weakness and lack of interest or care from our players.

Shame we pushed out Dean Kent. Who needs small forwards anyway?

There is nothing redeeming about that ‘performance’ tonight.

We are supposed to be the clearance team - we got smashed

We are supposed to be the tackling team - we got smashed

We are supposed to be exciting and fluid - we were turgid

Was it the lack of talent?  The lack of cohesion?  The lack of heart?  The lack of skill?

There is no spin for this one.  I have always looked for the positives, but that was devoid of anything.

I will be a member next year.  It is hard to be a supporter, and I am not a fair weather follower.

You're really tough mate, you sure showed me. You get your wish.

PS, I’m in Europe, haven’t seen the last few games and life is good! ?

Lucky you, best thing you could be doing by escaping this wreck, a total and utter shambles.

Is it me or does Goodwin constantly looks like his smirking?

Same here. Spent some $20000 for  the in doors and I over the 17 years or so and it’s been a [censored] investment many’s years of constant disappointment. Enough is enough. They have not met my KPI’s and will not be rejoining until things miraculously improve by a long shot

I didn't rejoin after the weak pathetic loss to the drug addled  Essendon 3rds, until this year when I thought that they had regained some pride and passion.

I agree with you demonique - certainly will not join again unless and until I see some pride and some passion.  I actually find it stressful to my heart to watch this sort of garbage.

I’m 33, which might be young to some supporters on this page, and started following us in 1996. This is without a doubt the worst season I’ve experienced. The disappointment after so much hype is just absolutely crushing.

Something really stinks with this club. There’s something rotting and I really hope this internal review yields something.

Completely agree.

To me, the problems started when Jackson left and Pert was appointed without due process.

Smirking about his contract extension and how he got the job in the first place

Won't be smirking when he loses his Gig as an Senior AFL coach.

The player divide reared up tonight. There will be quite an exodus at year end

I hope we lose by 150 points next week.

I don't know why, but this list don't want to play under Goodwin.  If we don't make a change, yet another year will be completely wasted.

Unwatchable heartless sh*t.

Pert walks into the club like he owns the place, thinking he's on a dead set winner, low and behold he's bitten off more than he can chew.

He's way over his head. Running Collingwood was a stroll in the park.

He's a down hill skier, needs everything to be smooth sailing to perform.

Not an ounce of ticker in him.

What's the effort on the ground by so called AFL players got to do with Pert. Wake up to yourself. Goody and players at fault here. No one else.

I find Leonard Cohen's final album, released just a week or so before he died, You Want it Darker, more suits my mood.

Given the team we had on the park, I'm just not sure what people were expecting. Seriously. We had a midget forward line with 2 actual forwards in it, is the lack of conversion from I50's a surprise?

People should stop looking for clever reasons as to why we're performing badly. We have 17 players unavailable, including some really key players at both ends of the ground, and we're putting what is largely a VFL-quality team on the park. Surprise surprise, we're losing - and at times, losing badly.

Correct. We put our worst and smallest team on the park for the year, so a loss was not a surprise.

But there are a few other problems as well, that will need to be fixed though.

Lack of effective game plan.

Lack of pace.

Lack of skill.

Lack of small goal kicking forwards.

Lack of effort.

Lack of fitness.

Lack of effective tackling.

Lack of playing for the team.

Is Pert the new Schwabovian nightmare and Goodwin the ghost of Neeld?

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
