Even if there is a change, the Tories won't want to pizz off one of their key constituencies.

Would depend on who is in power, but in all likelihood this is correct.

Probably won’t be named after him, but it’ll be the physical embodiment of PJ’s legacy.

At the very least, i like the sound of a " Peter Jackson Boardroom" or something like that.

If it gets up he deserves a permanent mention somewhere in the building.

Sydney has a novel solution to a training base - put the oval in the middle of the Randwick Race Course!!!

The article doesn't say it, I would think the training oval will have the same dimensions as the MCG.  An MCG sized training oval seems to be the solution for i/state teams and teams to whom the MCG isn't their Home ground.

Its no mean feat to find create a training oval in the middle of inner Sydney.  Good on them for being innovative.

It would be a long commute twice a week to train at Randwick though ?

To paraphrase  the current encumber in Spring Street “not worth the paper it is written on.  Can cancel without any cost to the taxpayer”!

Ethan apparently if you post it in triplicate (ie 3 times for you West Australians) he will believe you.

Any idea when there will be an official announcement.

orrr, the club could launch a new range of smokes? 'pj premiership edition'. all funds raised going to building toilets next to the new training ground so that the players no longer need to defecate in the long grass of gosch's. lol.

  • 3 weeks later...

I see Chairman Dan, Dear Leader, has promised a truckload of money to once again ( porkbarrel )upgrade Geelongs home stadium to the tune of $102 million...

Has he also made any announcements on some crumbs being thrown our way for our shiny new proposal? It has gone quiet lately. Hoping its still on the boil somehow.

Anyone have news? Maybe @Ethan Tremblay

And Dan is chipping in to upgrade Punt Road: "A $60 million redevelopment of the Punt Road Oval... looks set to be unveiled before the forthcoming state and federal elections". https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/jack-dyer-stand-may-go-in-60m-punt-road-oval-redevelopment-20180907-p502dv.html

Our comparatively miniscule plan seems to have taken a back seat.  Sigh...

Re any news - I noted a poster last week was told by the club that we no longer owned nor had anything to do with the Bentleigh club which was quite a surprise.  The last comment by the club was The Bentleigh gaming will cease in August 2022, although Melbourne will continue to operate the club, without the pokies.

Wouldn't mind a Club update for both our standing re the Yarra Park development and our ownership status of Bentleigh Club ownership - it was/is an exceptionally valuable piece of prime real estate

Would be very upset if the classic Richmond stand is demolished.

The remaining part of that ground is completely devoid of character.

What community benefit can you have by spending more money on Punt Rd and Geelong.  Hats off the Collingwood you drive past their facility and the general public are using it.  Even the Goshes paddock the rugby/soccer and our oval people are always using it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
