No I dont, I reckon there is something NQR but on present standards if he kicks another 15 + or so he will be our leading goalkicker!

Give him another 1 year deal ( with a second year option)  performance based same money plus incentives a full pre season ( Remembering his shoulder injury in the JLT) I just reckon a touch of faith is required with this bloke who clearly can play!

And repeat the Jack Watts performance!!!

Ridiculous suggestion

We will need to play him  (Dunkley),  at some stage this year,  If he appears worthy...  or risk losing him at end of season.

If we are to play him, surely we will have to elevate him to the senior list.

In my mind,  this then makes him a Demon...  and would require a transfer for him to be stolen by another club.?

Not sure where you got those stats from, as Hannan was the only forward to lay less tackles than Spargo (Spargo laid 2, another below average effort).

A "below average" effort?

Here are the forward tackles for Sunday:

Garlett: 3

Spargo, Weideman, Smith, Petracca: 2

Hunt, Hannan: 1

So, total tackles by those 7 forwards is 13, which means that the average tackles per player is 1.86. Spargo with 2 is actually above average.

Also, *both* Hunt and Hannan laid fewer tackles than Spargo, while only one player laid more.

Spargo is too small to offer any real pressure (any of those tackles actually stick?).

This is what confirmation bias looks like.

True, but I do wonder what constitutes a tackle sometimes. Does anyone have an actual definition? Like, does the tackle need to stop the opposition player? I'm always sceptical when it comes to stats

I'm always amused at number of posters who want a player's return from injury delayed another week based on no insight. It's like scans, GPS results and the player's conversation with the medical team are all valueless. How would we know whether any player's treatment and return date are either aggressive or conservative?

Because its simply how that poster thinks and feels.  Which encompasses a whole lot of things unsaid by poster.  It doesn't hurt anything.

You must be both uneducated and delusional if you think they will drop Tmac. Thanks goodness you have no say in our selection process.

Drop garlett? He kicks 3.2 and has his best game to 2 years and you want to drop him.

You have no idea...

Jeffy Garlett, what can you say?  what would Goody be thinking?

how is it possible I both love and hate the man??

he kicks 3 including a cracking one-two with Spargs. but at the same time misses the easiest of CHEST MARKS to snap home the victory. then doesnt attack the footy and can't kick straight from 25m (not alone there).  he has to be the most infuriating player to watch.  so good and so bad.

do you compromise team standards by playing him as he is so good or drop him?

If playing jeffy,  or other passer by,  gets us artificially up the ladder...   and cost us a  Hayden Young,  Lachie Ash,  or a Dylan Stephens/Caleb Serong.  I will go  berko,  after this wasted season.

Too much wasted already,  to give up a top 6 pick for something lesser.... unless we traded say a pick 4 or 5,  for two 1st Rnd picks.

And a classy sounding forward... Dylan Williams.

Who cares! We will get flogged. Our players have mentally checked out from this season already!

Not really sure what will happen Monday  or what Melbourne side turns up.

We went well against West Coast    should have won,   4th on the ladder,

three sheetful quarters against GWS then the last went well,   they did not lie down last week against Suns so why would they lie down against us,   there 2nd on the ladder.

Then last week flogged Adelaide for 3 and half quarters, could not buy a goal or a free kick where it would count.  and they are in the eight.

So we get Pies sitting fourth   beaten by Freo who I did not think played well and should only win in Perth, more hung in there cos the pies were poor.

Just do not know, and its only my opinion anyway, cannot be there so will turn the telly off if it gets too bad and no one will know or care except me. but will probably watch it all.   Go Dees   If they do tackle hard and often who knows.

Rubbish. You Frost haters are looking sillier by the week and will really end up with egg all over your face when Frost has a Top 6 B & F result.

TACKLE

Using physical contact to prevent an opponent in possession of the ball from getting an effective disposal.

I know this is not the way it's done on Demonland, but you can both point out a player's shortcomings AND appreciate their strengths. I like Sam a lot and what he brings - especially the fact that he's a tall who turns into a small once the ball hits the ground, it's almost like having an extra player in the backline. Would be surprised if he's top 6 in the B&F, but would be great to see, all power to Sam.

Sheet yep

OK Trac in for either Lockhart or ANB probably Lockhart!

That's odd, because on Saturday's form, Spargo is thereabouts in relation to our other forwards e.g., second for goal assists, equal second marks I50, and laid more tackles than any of them except Geoffy.

Caveat emptor with any MFC forward stats Bing given the ugly season so far.

It's all off a very low base comparatively with player v player.  Better to look at how players are performing vs last season and the rest of the comp,  barring the others bouncing around the bottom like us.

This has always impressed me, too; streamlining his game and earlier habits is obviously occurring, making him an asset and potentially, in a fuller, stronger backline, an absolute clearance asset. His is linking more quickly and accurately now and is doing so for the obvious betterment of the Team. Just a little bit more emphasis on his spoiling routines would be handy right now, and a few support gestures as he takes possession of the ball. Like the lad and his endeavour.

You do realise that Sparrow is out with a knee injury for multiple weeks! And the rest you honestly have no idea of their VFL form.

God deliver me?

Good.

A half fit Lever will give us more than a McDonald.

I know Lever will struggle in his first game back, but at least he'll get an AFL game under his belt and hopefully be close to cherry ripe V Freo after the bye.

Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
