Do we have any chance of getting him?  Jones, Lewis and one other should free up enough salary cap space.

Midfield, Midfield, Midfield.

After that, its the midfield.

Maybe then we can look at selling the farm for a forward saviour..... coz that has worked out really well for our backline thus far.

Mids.

Then more mids.

Good ones.

Your kidding right?

Whats the use Of constantly banging it inside 50 if we have no one to finish off?

Been one of our biggest issues this season.

He may cost too much. He’d be asking upwards of $1M per year which is probably too much. Just gotta pray that Weid can step up.

What’s Whitfield’s contract status at the moment? Is he OOC at years end? Or did he resign recently. Would sure like him on the wing and unlikely to cost that much.

Would gladly pay him that much.   Hes an incredible player and an excitement machine.

The money we got back in marketing $$ and extra memberships would easily cover his contract.

If we want him, we’ll make it work and fit him in. I don’t concern myself with the salary cap.

Like Cameron, I believe Whitfield is also OOC end of 2020.

Not kidding at all really. Our midfield depth is not as flash as many think. Jones will be gone soon, and it could easily come to pass that one or 2 of our alleged "guns" refuse to extend/ask for trade if we dont improve drastically.

Cameron would cost so much of our cap that it would make the rumors of disharmony in the ranks (because of the money some recent recruits are on) even louder.

I would LOVE Cameron as he is a genuine game-breaker.

We just cant afford to take another massive risk cost-wise until our last 2 big name recruits start paying dividends.

What a joke. We get rid of a gun forward in Hogan & now we are in desperate need of another.

Understand your point, but Hogan is having a terrible season.  His worst ever by far.

Fair to say he isn't the next Wayne Cary/Jonathan Brown  that he looked like he was going to be early on.

We desperately need a key forward because TMac is now getting the best defender and he can't cope.

Spot on

He is presently the best Key Forward in the comp and worth every cent.  Tom Boyd wasn't and got paid mega dollars on a long term deal (heavily front ended) and helped to win a premiership for the team with the longest drought who then passed the baton to us!

Weid has, until this point, shown nothing to suggest he will be a contender going forward.  Trade bait at the moment and frees up room for an expensive Cameron deal.

Foresight!  Yes yes yes.... memberships up and sponsors would be happy.  Maybe even more prime time TV coverage.  The AFL could NOT ignore the best forward in the comp complimented by a very competitive outfit around him with the capability of knocking over anyone at any time!

Doubt he is getable

MFCSS but well earned neita.  We are well overdue snaring a big fish in his prime and the other clubs always pinch them.  Some have pinched them from under our noses over the decades.  Our turn!  Go for broke we are in a narrow premiership window, it won't last.  The likes of Cameron may not come up again for another 3 to 5 years and by that stage we will likely be in a re-structuring phase under Goody or maybe a rebuilding phase (yet again) under a brand new coach if we stuff this window up.  And we will probably miss the next opportunity for a big trade deal in a similar window to this (if one arises!).  Then we'll be 60 plus years in the wilderness and might fall off a cliff once more!  Risk for reward!

He'll go to hawthorn or Geelong  for 750k...its why I hate this competition

So, offer him $1.25 mill or something he can't ignore Wells, mostly front ended.

Hogan was not a gun Key Forward IMHO Wiz.  More of a part time decoy Key Forward (who forgot how to play that role in the way you would normally expect a Key Forward to play it) playing a wandering high forward role which occasionally also saw him drifting across HB to help out.  More a tall utility than a gun Key Forward.  But yes if he wasn't home sick and no issues keeping Hogan would have been nice.  Trade the Weid instead.

Why is there a thread about Jeremy Cameron? Has this come up in the media or is the OP just throwing it out there based on nothing?

Was something in the media a couple of weeks ago about Geelong trying to lure him in a year when he hits free agency.

Yeah I understand that but at what point does it become too much to fit into our cap. If it cost us Oliver and Harmes/Gus/Tmac or any other player of significant importance is it really worth it? To gain one gun we could lose 2. I’m not sure I want that, but if it doesn’t then yeah by all means get him.

Thats part of list management I guess.

No,  we don't need Cameron that much.  We need flankers of quality,  in all 4 corners of our team sheet.  and the Pivot...  this is where we need class.   Class we don't have Yet.

the Bartels,  the Black's,  the Lappin's,  the Voss's,  the Stevie J's,  dare i say, the Toby Green's ?

... remember when Roos sounded out our club,  about a young Toby Green,  when he had that altercation as a young fella,  at a hotel in Melbourne.?

Geelong think they’ll get him.

16th on the ladder (and deservedly so) would suggest we should have mountains of salary cap space available.

If not, there is some serious mis-management going on.

I loved watching Hogan and wish him well.  Back to Perth was the best move for him.

BUT.... look at the stats from last weeks Freo win and Jesse is bottom of the list. I just don't see him reaching the potential he clearly had.  A Ross Lyon coached team won't get it done for him either

Smart move by MFC to do the trade.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
