We look quicker and more agile than we have in the past.

We have some genuine pace in the side.  Hunt, Garlett, Frost and Baker are all genuinely quick.  Fritsch and Lockhard aren't slow either.  It's balancing out the tanks in the centre a bit more.

We need to keep the intensity up for the next two quarters.

Will be a massive test to see if we can be consistent for 4 quarters.

We also need to maximise our is50s.

Not at all, had no options due to eagles closing him down, high rish of smother turn over, looked boundary side and salem was smart enough to get it over without infringing

It's called turning your man or taking the tackle....he is devoid of evasive skills and confidence with ball in hand and instead always panic gives to either someone about to be set upon or out to no where in particular as soon as there's a bit of heat on.  Has no assets other than staying close to his man but then rarely wins in a one on one.

May's slackness has cost us in this role big time this year.

If he was playing on anyone but McGovern he'd be killing it. Bodes well for the next few weeks.

Been a great effort to go over and lead at qtr and half time. Much more than i expected. Hopefully the third osnt the qtr we go scoreless.

Nah mate, Oscar Allen beat him in several 1 on 1s that quarter.

It’s almost like we had an interrupted pre season and it would take us six or seven weeks to build form and fitness.

Win and we’re only out of the 8 on percentage. ?

We've done very well til halftime ... we've put them off their game.   Our teamwork has been first rate and we've created that extra option throughout.

And there is no reason why we can't go on with it.  Just need more of the same.

Teach Trac to kick and he’d be brownlow material. Make it happen!

They’re at least one if not 2 rotations down and if hickey gets back on it’s there 2nd ruckman - we are going to run all over them coming home

jones and a cast of thousands

Jones' disposal has been horrid apart from his first goal as was Fritschkreig's first few and pretty ordinary after that as well.  We should be 3 to 4 goals ahead by now.

Really enjoyed Hunt’s recent form after such a horror season last year. He’s been clean with the ball and using his pace to full effect.

Can we please get a kicking coach for Trac.

The guy that runs my daughters Auskick is really good at teaching children to kick properly, he may be an option if Goody gives him a call?

He hasnt. Hunt was manning McGovern a lot for the first qtr n half and dragging him up, they allowed it for a bit trying to do McGovern things but hunt was going to dangerous positions so he had to follow, when he didnt hunt was getting easy ball and we were able to deliver inside away from him. Now he's tried to push onto smith, while smith is going to the contest he put himself behind or to the side for the spill. Hes impressing with leading patterns and forward craft.

T mac has suffered from bombs again that qtr, over his head or to the advantage of their 2 on one.

We should change our nick name to the butchers, because we butcher the ball.  If not for that we would be several goals ahead.

Great effort so far by a severely undermanned team playing in a hostile environment.

Keep it going Dees.

This is what I don’t understand, how isn’t this addressed, Carey, BT, Dunstall have all spotted the issue, yet he’s shanking them left and right every week.

Trac needs to chat to a specialist goal kicking coach, clearly Melbourne don’t have one.....

We've had a mix of usual long bombs inside 50 and lowering the eyes, often with poor execution. If we can just improve these by half we will snaffle the 4 points

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
