Good to see the selection committee have made a statement dropping an underperforming senior player...oh wait they dropped a kid and let senior blokes continue to coast and set the poor standard!

This club is weak. Nothing changes.

If you know it all what would you have done?

I too am really [censored] off at the moment and decided not to attend on Saturday. However, @Moonshadow , pleaded with me to go because he has no friends and is uncomfortable being alone.

Anyway, for some reason, a sliver of optimism has been ignited and I think we have some chance. My main concern is who is going to kick goals to give us a winning score. I really hoped Preuss would be back as he appears to be good for a couple himself but, more importantly, gives us some structure.

Dropping Weid won't make much difference because he's given us [censored] all this year. We urgently need TMac to regain some form and god help us could we find a crumber.

I've said it before but I would like to see Jones playing forward pocket.

Truth be told, I'm more uncomfortable sitting next to you than surrounded by people. However, your 'get-up' seems to create a large number of vacant seats in the area, so it's less crowded and easier to spread out. I'm ok with what you wear, others are not. Each to their own!

I would play OMac forward, and agree with Bitters - Jones to the forward line.

Surely spending 4 quarters back at Casey was all that Oscar and Wags needed to develop their skills and regain their confidence. Obviously an easy selection decision.

Oh dear. Just when you thought things could not get any worse. Fifth loss for the year on our home turf. How’s the “cauldron” looking Goody?

Need oMac back for Roughead so Frost can play on Mitchell Lewis and/or McEvoy resting.

I’m actually a fan of the changes.

Harmes and Stretch on the Wing.

Salem in the middle

Fritsch and Tmac back forward

Hunt running off half back

My biggest concern is the weather. Looks like it is now forecasted to rain during the afternoon.

Good god.. how we continue to put games into a [censored] spud in McDonald is just mind boggling.. Should have given Keilty or Petty a shot.

Our season is finished and we have this useless [censored] coming back into the team..

Riveting selections.

And rain it will.......goals to Hawthorn

Any hope I had for a win has vanished with this team selection.

Really confusing stuff once again.

One more reason to go to the game

It’s not like we have a strong list of players who could have come in. Bar a player debuting, it was always going to be ‘meh’.

in hindsight, the club completely overrated the list and got rid of some decent depth. I would have much preferred the inclusions of Bugg, Tyson or Kent.

ET.  of the kids we took in,  we won't know for at least another 12 months,  the way they're shaping.

I actually like the types we took,  relative to the picks we had to use.

IMO,  its the previous two drafts, that left us wanting for run and dash.

Not so much. Anything to help get Fritsch back up the ground where he belongs is a step in the right direction IMV. Also, Fritsch forward frees up Petracca to do some of the on-ball heavy lifting.

Of course, best laid plans ...

Which half-forward do you think is keeping Fritta out of the F50,  'b181'.?

Off on a tangent, but Collingwood are so stacked right now they're dropping Varcoe despite him being a gun. Really wish we'd gotten him for Clarke, instead of Lamumba. He'd be a handy player to have in the team covering the ground. Exact player we need.

What IF TMc, or the Pet,  are outs ?

I would have persisted with Weideman, but it's easy to understand the logic.

Win and no-one will be complaining.

Yeah but if he was playing for us right now John, he would be a spud. Just ask any Geelong supporter. Downhill skier of the highest order.

I think Bitters might stiffen the backline.

With Preuss unavailable, would like to have seen Keilty debut; see if he could have made an impact as. Forward/Ruck.

Lewis, Wagner, Omac ...

Maybe if we swap the forward line with the backline?

Yup.  Seemed an obvious selection.

Oh well at least we get to see Jay lockhart play.  Theres something about that fella that I really like.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
