Expecting a hard fought spirited performance from our lads today.  Jack Viney got back to his hard tackling best last week and Jets and Lewis back into the side should also add some hardness.  It should also help playing with a full 22 players from the start of the game, rather than the 21 we effectively have been playing with Oscar's output this year.   Everything on the line, nothing left in the tank is how we should be playing practically every game right now.

If we ultimately can't do enough to make finals in 2019, then so be it, but we achieve nothing by going soft and throwing away the season at any stage.  One match at a time, win or loose, so long as we are putting in 100% and working to rectify the chinks in the armor then we achieve something.

Personally I'm in the camp that the Saints are overrated.  No push over, but not the damaging side that some are making out either.  We weren't on our game when we played them mid last year and I doubt we will make that mistake twice.

Carn the DEMONS!

No idea what we're going to produce at the moment, we will certainly win if we play our best footy for the whole match BUT - have only played about 3 good quarters so far this season....

I think that today the team will show that they are back.

Dees by 24 points.

No saints are not a great side but nor are we. Tmac and the weed will have to pull their fingers out today.

If we're able to defend the ground like we did against Sydney at the SCG, we'll win.

But if we defend it like we tried to against Port or Essendon, we'll lose, and I suspect the game will look and play out eerily similar to our St Kilda loss last year.

Saints scores have been 13.7, 10.16, 9.12, and 10.14. Low scores and inaccurate.

We just need to limit the oppositions' scoring efficiency once they're inside their 50m arc.

Surely we can hold them to less than 10 goals?

nah... all teams find their one off accuracy for the season against us... vide Geelong

16:4 for the Saints

Who didn’t play in the opener? Just Omac?

Caro having another dig at The Club in the Aged today i see.

It all played out in 2017 Wilson, you really enjoy a good demon scandal, however small don’t you.

Does anyone care what Caro has to say these days?

She's been irrelevant for years.

It’s a double spread article so somebody must

Will the 28 degree heat favour the Saints because we appear to be one of the unfittest sides in the league? Refer rounds 1 and 3.

Or will it favour us as the Saints are coming off a veryphysical games with 3 less days break?

Somebody we shouldn't be worried about.

Weird, surely one would carry over? What happens if someone does a hammy in the warmup?

Someone said earlier that Lockhart was the carry over.  Admittedly, I didn't watch the above clip, but was he in there?

A regular media rocket up the khyber is de rigueur to ensure we don’t go the bathtub too often. She’s just reminding us and I hope the players take note. Far more appropriate than the treacle the media has been smothering us pre season.

Dean Kent to kick a bag today and be BOG.

AS long as their collective minds are on today and not next weeks game the will win. But if they are not swiped on look out.

Saints have overachieved so far this year and sitting pretty after a very soft draw while also running into teams at the right time (Essendon as a shambles, Hawks on one leg).

The headline tonight will be “Dees give Saints a reality check”.

Melbourne by +30pts

Any minute you will wake from your dream!

what dig... it's just an article on the Saints and has a throw away comment about how in 2016/7 they were seen on similar trajectories. It hardly mentions Melbourne.

Why am I nervous AF?

i think we will win by 34 points, but either I ate a bad curry or this is as nervous as I have before a game in a while.

I thought this guy was Lockhart.

Geez, for a bloke who runs a footy-based website, you sure dont know much about the players.

Tony Lockhart was much bigger than this guy..

This is him. Sheesh.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
