I'd actually love an @dazzledavey36 training report that mirrored his emotions from a game day thread.

Someone like Billy Stretch misses a target and he can go off his rocker, then Clayton Oliver beats three players to a ground ball and he declares him the greatest player of all time... and so on.  It would be bloody brilliant.

Get down there, dazzle.  Training needs you!

I wish i could, moved to Albury now mate. I did a couple of sessions last year where i didn't hold back on player critique. If its there you call it right?

I wasn't one to kiss players [censored] at training and talk about what soccer team they followed.

Got there early to see the rehab group come out first, Lever, Louis, Petty, Jeffy, Hore, Viney and to my dismay May! No AVB, JKH or J Smith.

the main group then appeared and thankfully May joined them immediately. Viney joined the main group after about 30 minutes running and exercising with the rehab group. He looks to be moving freely and was OK in the ball drills but who knows. Saw JSmith walking around not in running gear, not limping but not doing any rehab.

Did Viney carry his limp with him into the main group or leave it in rehab?

Yes, just like last season when you said Viney was fine before he was shut down for 12 weeks.

Ben Guthrie said VIney didn't look 100%.

Thanks Petraccattack, re Ben Guthrie's comment did he mean that Viney looked less than 100% or more than 100%. I'm hoping its the latter and he's 110%.

He wasn’t limping that I noticed. I watched him running with the rehab group and doing some sprints, he doesn’t look quick but I don’t think he was quick over a longish distance, more your explosive type over 5 to 10m. I am hoping he hasn’t lost that explosiveness with all these foot injuries.

Max had plenty of bandages on his leg but looked in good form. Plenty of one on one aerial drills. T Smith and Baker back in full training. Hore joined the main group after 30 odd minutes in rehab. So it was Lever, Louis, Petty and Jeff fulltime rehab.

Melchum looked fit and was impressive in the one on one drills. Two Poms stood near me when the game simulation was on and they were talking amongst themselves trying to work out what game it was, how the off side rule was working, it’s like rugby but different and that the blues were trouncing the whites. When one said he was going to go to google to find out what sport it is I thought I better intervene; there is no off side, 360 degrees, you can go anywhere, the aim is to kick the ball through those tall posts over there and yes it is a full contact sport. Not sure what they made of it all. Then it was time to leave. Any questions I will try to answer.

Who is Melchum and Louis?

Nathan Jones should not be laughing, let alone raucously, he should be focussed on training not having fun. AFL players need to realise that they can have as much fun as the like after their AFL careers are over but until then we pay memberships and attend games and therefore they have no rights and must show us they leave no stone unturned to improve their performance.

So a giggle at training should see a 500 push up punishment for the player in question?

Seems reasonable.

I agree. I have never laughed at work. If anyone ever tells a joke in a meeting I stare at them with an angry face and tell them to pull their head in.

Pathetic comment? Nothing pathetic about it.

Jones has been an absolute standout as a player and captain of our club for a very long time, there's no doubting his sacrifice and resilience. But i did not comment on that did I.

What's pathetic is his attempt to take the simplest of chest marks. Nathan would be the first to tell you that too. No opposition player anywhere near him, at a critical time of the match and that capitulation was the final nail in the coffin and stripped any momentum we may have had. Would we have been able to come back if he kicked the goal? Probably not, but by having that brain fade, it ensured that we wouldn't.

You're way too defensive and close to the playing group to maintain an objective outlook Saty.

My god you are so wrapped up in your cozy little world you miss the obvious.

We seem good at getting players in tip top shape don't we.

Maybe time to get new glasses. Your Rosey ones are deluding you Saty.

We're obviously carrying a truck load of injury. Some planned convalescence possibly...some seems in the 'we'll play it week by week"

To be fair that might be the only practical way for some but it also screams to some we really don't have a good enough handle on some aspects. Are we unique and alone in the football World ? Highly doubt it. Not interested in other club's problems.

How any club can stump up that dross in round one with a far from fit team beggars belief in 2019.

So yes Saty some of us look straight at those in charge.

Stick to your camera mate.

It was a massive choke from one of the most experienced players in the league. All you can do is laugh, really. And maybe he should, too.

I'm amazed about the negative comments about Jone's dropped mark.  Some posters are almost saying he squibbed it.  Seemed clear to me he took his eyes off the ball because he wanted to see who was downfield for a quick pass.  A mistake, but that's all.

Yes, sure. But a choke nonetheless.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
