This would have to be one of the biggest surprise selections of all time.

Amazing that he is fit enough to step into AFL football after a week!

Why, we need more run in the side. The 666 will allow more small players in.

The tall sloths will struggle.

Named back pocket?

I genuinely have no idea where he's been playing at Casey or what kind of attributes he has to offer the side.

Anyone other than the bearded-one care to shed some light?

Great first goal.   He could be the small forward we desperately need.

He roughed up and crunched Joel Selwood a couple of times.

Thats enough for me to deserve another game next week.

Lockhart is about the only thing keeping  me interested at the moment.  Has kicked some lovely goals already.. has great goal sense.  I feel he may snag a couple of bags this season as he gets more comfortable and our mess of gameplan is (hopefully) sorted out.

If Goody moves him from the forward line I will scream.

I like this kid, he adds pace and toughness to the side. Just needs to work on his consistency

Won’t be long before the club sucks the life out of him.

Why do the supposedly professional organisations known as MFC & AFL still  list him in websites as number 0?

They're waiting for another  '0',  to become available...  and the number  '7', mono.

Then he'll be licensed to thrill.

.

He may also be waiting for a locker ?  ?

He’s not used to the speed of the game yet - has been done for holding the ball at least once per game and isn’t in games for long enough. I like his attributes, but in my view it’s unrealised potential with a few cameos per game at this point. Would be developing in the VFL ideally if our first choice flankers in Hannan and AVB weren’t out.

Has some footy smarts and shows some dynamic manic movement.  Love the attack and instinctive way he takes the game on.  Getting caught is part of the game, no problems with that as long as the awareness evolves over time and it becomes the exception.

Give him at least 2 to 3 game blocks until he looks like he's ready to take on more.

We need more of these types but taller, if theyre out there, to add some marking / intercept / spoiling ability, and manic gut running with some initial burst speed.  The marking side critical since losing Hogan, Howe and Lever (till he returns).

Lockhart should own the vacant small defender role given Jetta is out until round 13-14.

He has shown his AFL standard.

He played there at Casey last year and shutdown a lot of small forwards.  Has class and pace and knows how to tackle.  Probably gets puopolo this week.

Just here to blow my own trumpet.

Jay Lockhart Man Crush -  Activated

May have found a player here!

Great game today and looking more and more comfortable each week.

Thought he was good all day, added something different.

Previous weeks he has started ok and then faded, but he kept it up for 4 quarters today.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
