Round 1 Team

I’m staggered that the club has said they kept Smith on the ground in the final JLT match as they didn’t believe his groin injury would worsen. A strain can become a tear in a single movement. He should have been off the ground immediately. It was only a practice match after all. Sheer stupidity.

Not enough people have said this.

It needs more.

I’m staggered the club let Angus Brayshaw play on after all those concussions.

One bump can be another concussion in a single Moment.

Risk assessment isn’t an exact science you need expertise, an understanding of previous similar risks and luck.

Oh, my apologies! I only read the club comment today. Working for a living limits my leisure time reading and as a consequence clearly makes me prone to puerile sarcasm.

Who will Harmes tag?  Gray if he plays midfield. Otherwise Rockliff?

Ports midfield depth looks pretty weak.

Harmes may not need to tag anyone with the outs they have.  That's a bonus for us.

What a silly comparison.

But their pace doesn't. They will inject a lot of pace into the side. I hope they don't run us off our feet.

harmes plays better when he has an assignment. Robbie gray if he plays midfield otherwise rockliff.

What we want above all else is players that make their opponents earn every possession the hard way.

A little error with enormous consequences and disappointing to see young Smith limping for an eternity on the ground. Too valuable to risk, bordering on abuse. Agreed about the stupidity and how could such an oversight occur? Should have swung OMac onto the forward line and let Spargo take control of the backline in his place. After all, it was only a practice match.

The front 6 is what worked at the end of last season, and would be a safe bet.  Our issue in JLT was the ball came out of our forward 50 way too easily.  Hope these 6 are back to locking it in and causing turnovers, and if they do the back 6 will be fine and we’ll win easily.

Was this a result of the new rules on kick ins? Will be a lot harder to lock the ball in this year you'd think...

Harmes to Powell-Pepper.

PP is a tagger himself! That would be unusual.

No not from points in the JLT.  We kicked 16.5 and 15.7.  It was just coming out easily from ground balls and intercepts.

The pace will only be an issue if they play well enough to take advantage of it though. Plus they have a lot of young players in, they will get tired as the game goes on.

Which really points to the fact it was a praccy game rather than the real thing. If that happens this week I'd be shocked, ground ball gets are essentially contests around the ground and we're one of the better teams at that. Intercepts were an issue, but so was a functioning forward line with TMac holding ground and JSmith not really able to move in the 2nd JLT.

I would almost toy with the idea of putting Nev on PP just to see what would happen. Also swap the two Macs as well and see if Omac can make his brother notice how kicking goals can be.........

From memory, I think - but I am not sure - that Viney owes one to P_Pepper on the flank, and another in the forward line. If Preuss plays, then maybe he could accidentally steamroll the dirty little knee dropper.

Just listening to Jade Rawlings on SEN, and he mentioned the new recruits who’ll be stepping out for Casey on Sunday. If I heard correctly Tom Sparrow’s name wasn’t one of them, suggesting he’ll play against Port.

Or Twig had a moment of forgetfulness...

Given he is similar position player to AVB you may be right
