What’s wrong with Harmes?

 Compound finger fracture.

It’s been a bad bad day for us.

We are just slow..sides will absolutely kill us on the outside like Brisbane have.

Some worrying signs.

backline a real worry

He wasn't best 22 in 2016 2017 or 2018 so yes 2019 he's still not lol

I get that he can run, but honestly we have a better version of him in ANB and even he is struggling.

They said it was a compound fracture of the finger.

May - what an idiot

Nothing in it.  Soft bump to chest.

You blokes are kidding yourselves

We have been two rotations down since half time, plus we took less players into the game.  It will be no surprise if we don't run the game out well.  I just don't want any more injuries.

Is it just a glitch on the afl site stats, or am I right observing that we have only used 23 players (including JKH who was gone early and Harmes who didn't make it to half time) while Brisbane have used all 26 possible under JLT rules?

Frost, Petty and Wagner were all out there for Casey earlier, weren't they?

Second quarter fightback was promising but we’ve been comfortably second best in both games.

Yep, they chose to give those guys more time at Casey instead of, say, just a half or less in the main stuff.

It's only a practice match but if we play like this in the real stuff we can safely book or ski trips in September.

We're going to get blown away by quick teams this year.  The rules are now designed to create space and promote quick movement. We are a contested ball team that thrive on getting numbers around the ball. When it gets into space, we are one of the slowest teams in the league. Hopefully players like Sparrow and Bedford come on quickly, as we still need genuine leg speed IMO.

Disappointing to see us have another team (likely) kick 100+ against us again. We've got a lot of work do on our defensive running.

Late unnecessary bump, high (maybe, probably) and player walked off for concussion test

Stupid, unnecessary, knowing our luck, out

Absolutely nothing in it.  Get a grip mate.

It was a block at worst!!!

Not really concerned about this performance. It's incredible how little this matters; just supposed to be a warm-up for the real stuff.

... I like to think I'd be saying the same thing if we were winning by 10 goals, but honestly I can't say for sure :-X

I saw Burton do worse on Higgins last year and got off. Come to think of it did he even get a fine?

MRO won’t even look at it.

Haven't seen anything to suggest we'll get near it this year at all. May looks slow and out of position constantly.

Lucky it's just preseason but my expectations were shot to pieces on that day at Optus Stadium and they haven't recovered yet.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
