Sorry Barrie, just cant feel this way. QB and finals are all that counts for me.

I hope they play some of the kids and fringe players.

I guess, we have the confidence to know that they will not play anyone on the injury or rehab list, which is quite a number of our better players.

As someone else said on another thread, I just hate practice games. A meaningless game with the heightened risk of injury.  Hard grounds and players a little soft.

Why are they playing it in the morning? Surely they could play it say 5:30, allowing people to come after work.

Which is what they did 2 (maybe 3?) years ago. The place was packed and it was terrific to have a bevvie and watch the dees (it was an intra club game).

A good idea playing the enemy save Gawn for the real stuff  during the QB and if Grundy plays unleash the man mountain in Preuss so he can go right through him. Play all the kids and see if any have Cahoonas at their early stage and save our midfield from injury.

IMO it is a waste of time as we know what we are capable of.

Would any good actually come from this? Itd be awkward as hell like how hard do you tackle? Do you crunch the [censored] drifting across in front of you?

You go 110% just like a game. It's better to do this than to play intraclubs that do actually raise the question of how hard to go and don't really test your structures because everyone knows what their opponents are meant to do.

We've only go the two practice games on the 3rd and 9th and the quick back up there probably means you don't play your best 22 in both for full games. A preliminary hit out against the Pies lets you have a better look at the guys who are 23-32 on the list as well to try and see who surprises.

I think both teams will have a reasonably good gentleman’s agreement not to hurt each other. It doesn’t benefit either of the two 2019 grand finalists ?. I suspect they just want to see how advantageous a dual ruck combo will work with the new rules. So they can optimise the bench rotations, floating forward rucks, and other aspects.

Dees and Pies are fairly well matched up this year, the pies coach has always been a bit of an understudy of Roos and now Goody, and respects Melbourne.

I think it’s ok, much better and safer than the completely arbitrary AFL X and is a good opportunity for both clubs to test the new system.

Hopefully the players don't take round 21 lightly either ;)

Damn straight!

There'll be more on the line in round 21 than Queens birthday.

We'll be managing players by then as we will be 3 games clear on top.

I'm in the stuff 'em without Gawn camp too. Would be inclined to see Preuss have a shot at Cox's mobility whilst seeing just how fit Preuss is. Would they be playing both their bigs...not sure

Don't think Maynard would be fit enough based on his workload last Sat at Camp Mdore.

But good team minus an engine room and May plusTom Mac.

I doubt we'll be playing a team of this calibre in that match. I also doubt they'll be fielding their A-Team either.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
