Billy is fine, right where he should be in his 'rehab',  I asked, we get it right these days, no rush, still January, always get a big hello, so head is in a good space as well

Saty apologies if I have missed the actual response to this but what does "he is where he should be mean"? Do you when he is likely due into full training? In rehab is there certain elements he has not participated in? Do we expect him to be right for season start or expected to be later. He and Lever are the two for me appear to be least likely to be ready to go but Billy needs as good a run in as he can get if he wants to secure a wing I would think.

Thanks for the training reports- much appreciated!

Any observations on how Jeff Garlett has been training?

Yeah. He looked more focused on the training track on Saturday morning than he did for most of the second half of the season last year. Perhaps he got a rocket at his exit interview or came to the realization himself after the season ended that if he doesn’t lift his game in 2019, it will be the end for him.

No one else has mentioned but I thought I would... Lever, Brayshaw and Stretch were really good with the kids today. Signing autographs, taking photos and the like and just being polite, while the kids were nagging them through training. The club has come along way since I was a Redleg which was good to see.

Wait. Are you ragging on Petracca for telling the physio he was having pain in his knee, possibly the one he had reconstructed? While previously bemoaning his supposed immaturity? Would it help if we added a trigger warning to posts discussing Christian?

Can someone suggest to Mr Preustt,  to maybe grow a bushy beard ???

that's good to know. he'd want to pull his finger out, he's out of contract at years end and since Goody has taken over, he has shown he's not afraid to make guys 'walk the plank' for giving suspect effort at times. Watts, Hogan and Tyson all gone.

I reckon Jeffy has the first half of the season to win and then hold a spot in the team, otherwise he'll go on the scrap heap for good and we move on to some of the young kids we drafted instead.

Petracca did seem to be struggling toward the end of the session, could hardly run. Possibly just early days and it was pretty warm. Reckon he could lose a few kgs

I still believe the club will continue to throw him in the midfield at times. Just to add more depth and class going through there. But i like him down back setting us up from behind.

Speaking of class, i genuinely think he'll develope into Shaun Burgoyne clone for us. Has all the attributes to become a seriously class player us over the journey.

Roosy was banging on about him as our Jarrad McVeigh On The Couch toward the end of the season, mentioned it more than once. Highlighted a few of the bits of play you would've been referring to in your earlier post as evidence of slowing the game down and choosing the right option to open up the game.

Petracca also needed further work on his knee throughout the session telling the Physio "It hurts when I stop moving."

Simples .... Keep moving then!

He is Too heavy for his height, in today's non stop footy.

Also, this is not good for his joints, particularly his knees and cartilage's.   Let alone his back health... and ankles.

Eek, he must miss out on the weighing sessions then, each player is 'advised' what his playing weight should be, some are even stopped doing certain weights to ensure they don't become muscle bound

Trac was fine when I spoke to him after the session, did what his program said for the session

Lever was told to 'pull his head in at one point', doing more than he should

Saty, do the players also have strict "rules" about how much they can do when they are not officially training? For example, if one of the players felt like going for a run, swim or gym session on their day off or early in the day before turning up for work, can they do so?

Strictly forbidden from playing frisbee or basketball with dogs.

Cracker up the r's from the head coach?

Saty - which group has Fritsch been training with?

Given he played initially as a forward last year, then went on to the wing, and then to half back, I'm interested in any indication as to where the coaching staff believe he will play this year.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
