Heard that Jake Lever has a sore foot and will miss this week.

Steven May said on Fox Footy that Lever has a foot issue and could miss this week apparently.

I read this on the changes thread a half hour ago just after I posted how strong the Casey team should be due to the reduction in the injury list.

Words fail me.. except to say it must be a very sore foot if it's still there after a week off.:(

It will take more than a sore foot for Rick Lever to miss. Pump it full of the good stuff and put him out there.

Let me guess we rushed Lever back for QB when he should've come back after the bye...

Apparently he was already sore before the Collingwood game.

Who would have thought 3 quarters of a VFL game over the course of 3 weeks wasn't enough preparation after a year out of the game....?

Did May tell a little porkie (on Fox) that Lever had foot soreness to deflect attention from an on-going knee problem? The Fox show was 10 days after the QB game, one would expect May to know which it was.

If Lever was sore (knee or foot) before QB, as May said, and we played him it is up there on the stupidity stakes.  QB was a big game but not significant from a season view so with his injury history, and just 3 qtrs of football in a year, why take the risk.  Just stupid.

Didn't hear the segment myself, was just told what was said. Don't know which knee, but you'd assume hey?

To clarify, it sounds like he does have some foot soreness, but it's the knee soreness that is the problem and the thing that could see him miss this week.

Guessing here, but it could be that he had foot soreness before the QB game, but now he has knee soreness that's bad enough to keep him from playing. Absolute guess though.

I've not been one of the 'Misson bashers', but given what seems to have been a growing problem the last few years in injury mismanagement, particularly returns from injury, it certainly puts more context around his seeming demotion this week.

This is good news considering our 'elite' performance managers history with feet.

So we played a player on QB who was already significantly underdone in his comeback from a serious knee injury, but who was also carrying a foot problem that may have caused him to change his running style, hence leading to this current knee soreness? Congratulations to the club on its never ending quest to achieve new levels of incompetence.

Evidence that Lever was “rushed back”, please? I thought he had been in full training for months before he returned.

Well i was going off what May said on Fox Sports that he had hurt his foot before the QB clash..

Whatever the situation, i though 6 qtrs in the VFL wasn't enough.. you can train all you like but you need to get match fit and hardened and confident.

Isn’t the only way to get match fit to play footy games?

I was concerned he might be underdone too but only from a touch/form/confidence perspective. As far as I can see there’s no evidence whatsoever that he wasn’t ready from an injury recovery point of view. People are flying off the handle without having the facts at hand, as usual.

If he misses this week with soreness in the same knee that was rehabilitated after playing only 3/4s of a VFL game over 3 weeks that would be evidence in my opinion. Obviously the year out and the training period seemed patient enough, but then to be recalled to the much greater speed and impact of AFL level footy on such limited match play makes it seem like they rushed the final stage.

Playing 90% game time would have had an impact also. Played less than that in total for the previous 3 weeks. The Frost concussion would have been part of that equation of course, but that seems a pretty clear picture to me.
