Pert gets this Summer to sort out this mess. I will judge him next year

And how are you judging PJ and Roos right now who left him with this s@$t sandwich. And PJ left him with a $2mill revenue hole by pulling out of pokies and not replacing the revenue. But I suppose you think that’s Pert’s fault as well

Not quite sure PJ left him with anything.

From my understanding he had nothing to do with the decision about Pert.

I don’t blame Pert at all...

this is far more Football Department problems at this Point. But as CEO he now has to go flat out to get it sorted

He didn't. Had he though we'd  probably  have Mahoney.

Damned  either way perhaps

Current football department issues aren't Pert's fault.

The club's response in the coming months are for what he should be judged.

New Balanced signed on for three more years; he's had a good week.

I would thought the credit there lies with the Marketing Dept TPF.

Irrelevant. Marketing Dept  gets paid big bucks and does the sell.

It's not irrelevant. They report to the CEO. They're paid the big bucks to do a job, which is held to account by the CEO. The higher the pay grade, the fewer the number of people above you.

CEO is held to account by the board. The board by members/stakeholders.

This is how organizations work. If the marketing department doesn't deliver, the CEO asks why, and the board asks why of the CEO. The board isn't going to the marketing team to see why a sponsor wasn't signed.

you clearly don't understand how corporate negotiations work

the marketing dept certainly does not sign off major partnerships

Actually I do a family member was Marketing Manager at a successful AFL Club for 20 years. He was responsible for attracting what is the longest running sponsorship in the league. His job, his initiative brought the sponsor in, he was rewarded and still is acknowledged for it. Not the long forgotten CEO of the time.

one instance from over 20 years ago; that's gotta be sydney with qbe, i presume?

i worked at a club where a sponsor was brought in by the media department

these are the exceptions, not the rule

the likes of media and marketing depts have little to do with corporate negotiations as rule

She's been known to misspell words. I'd put her on a front loaded contract.

Listened to Pert on the Inside Melbourne podcast and he come across as pragmatic and assured. Despite the disaster that 2019 has been our club has managed the fall out well and looks to have a clear plan for turning things around in the off season.this goes for Goody as well who is clearly under alot of pressure but working hard to turn things around. I certainly think we are capable of turning 2020 into a successful year if the players/coaches/admin all do their bit and supporters get along to games.

And if we lost New Balance?  Where would your blame lie..?

Marketing and sponsorship is a significant element of Pert’s role.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
