Sorry it has been a long first half of the trade period :)

Dean Kent has been traded from Melbourne to St Kilda for pick 65.

The fast but injury-plagued forward goes there on a three-year deal.

Could have included Ben Long in the Deal. FMD.

Rumour, Peter Bell & Fremantle FC are oxygen thieves, and are not worthy of being in the AFL. Ban them from next years trade period for constipating trades. Found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and being total fwits.

I’m happy about Wingard going to the hawks. So overrated. Never kicked more than 24 goals. Looks like a star a few times a year but is soft and lacks intensity.

I heard he wants a million a year?!? And trade would be one or two first rounders?

Madness!!

Kicked 43 goals in his second year (2013)

43 in his third (2014)

53 in his 4th (2015)

then in the last two years he has moved more into the midfield and has averaged over 20 disposals and a goal a game.

Not saying I rate him at a million dollars a year but he's certainly not a bad player

This is the world we live in now. Just make [censored] up, who cares.

Hawthorn know how to get a deal done!

Hawthorn did not appear well placed to satisfy Port in a trade for the dual All Australian given its first pick in this year's NAB AFL Draft doesn't fall until No.15.

However, it's understood Port inquired about Burton's availability and the Hawks are prepared to include him in the deal.

Freo should take a leaf out of their book.  Just get the deal done.  No fanfare, no grandstanding, no fuss!

As an aside - seems another deal symbolic of the new order:  'if player not committed, trade them out the year before they become FA's!'  Clubs taking back some control.

Wow. But only two years ago, Hawthorn were touting Burton as one of their star young leaders.

Hawks fans are ropeable. Burton is a fan favourite and still only young.

From Trade Lowdown.

Jake Kelly is reportedly interested in moving to Collingwood from the Crows.

The guys on the show didn’t chat about it, spotted it on the news crawl.

My understanding is his brother also might be at the pies this year.

Not sure if he's father son, or just speculation

Why? Should we have signed him on a 3 year deal worth double what we were wanting to offer him for 1?

Right. So you are saying accepting Pick 64 was a good deal?

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
