One thing's for sure, I'm sick of this being a media story every single off season.

I can't think of another player so consistently linked with moving back interstate.

It was a constant in WA with Pavlich returning to South Australia pretty much every year for his first 10 years at Freo

Craig Smoker was ok in his debut year, but then went off to Carlton as I recall.  Maybe wanted to be with John Elliott.

Carlton? No

After Melbourne he played for Williamstown before returning to WA. He then played for a WAFL team I think.

I think the bar was lifted with Hogan. There was precious little relief from the clowns masquerading as journos badgering him about his contract and intentions, two effing years before a signature was required.

Both 1 and 2 were shouted down about a month or 6 wks ago. Some children demanding the thread be closed, others claiming trade scenarios were a waste of time as he was 'settled'. The usual suspects telling us what we are allowed to think. There was some good discussion on what his value might be both on our list and as a trade.

Who cares? You don't like someone's posts just block them. I do. Better than having 20 pages of dick measuring.

Hogan shouldn't have signed his latest contract if he knew he was going. That was the time to leave. He said it himself. These vague reasons that have been put out about why he's going back are exactly that - vague. Doesn't seem like he has great cause to and he is going to break a lot of Melbourne hearts if he goes.

I'm not a fan of Vvandenberg leaving either. But Jesse is a whole other thing.

Would it be fair if Team consideration indicated to the powers that be that the situation could be solved by compelling Hogan to sign a reasonable contract over a five year period that would get the pesky press off his back and the whole Club could get on with winning a Flag

Your entire opinion is based around the assumption that Jesse is the one that drove this.

I'm more open to the possibility that a few parties were/are involved. Freo with a tempting offer. Melbourne realising it could improve its list by trading him. Jesse taking that all in and deciding he'd be open to moving. He thinks on it some more and he realises that he'd prefer to go.

I wouldn't begrudge him in that situation.

So without knowing the full details...

I don't give a F what fremantle have offered, if Jesse's a Melbourne man, he wouldn't be tempted.

However, if we have decided to get rid of him to make way for May or whatever else, then obviously no fault to Hogan. I just doubt this the case though otherwise Goody and Angus wouldn't have been laughing off Hogan leaving a few weeks ago

Had an awesome first half of the year, was absolutely elite in many categories. I'm sure he would be the first to admit his second half of the year was disappointing and bear in mind he missed the last 5 games.

I can see freo fans using this to argue unders on Jesse, like the dolts last year who thought it justified us paying unders for (or not recruiting) Lever

If freo trade neele for brisbane brisbanes first pick, they should give us that one and their first pick. The club should say take it or leave it... play hardball... or shop him elsewhere.

Well who needs a key tall forward, Hawks, Saints, Freo, WC could do some arranging, Pies, GCSuns definately,,, there would be no shortage of suitors for JesseH.

Because they already have Darling and Kennedy.

Not to mention they wont have the trade currency or cap space.

Darling ;looks to me a bit of a worry for WC.  He looks a bit suss to me.

I wouldn't mind betting that the Eagles would love to have Jesse in his place.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
