Something that I don’t think anyone has considered is money. He’s 24 next year and in the last year of his contract, obviously none of us know how much he’s on but it would be fair to assume it would be quite substantial. Part of his contract would of been based on potential and the go home factor. This next contract should be naturally larger and his “payday”. But if his inability to perform in big games continues or a potential move to defence was to occur (I can’t see this happening, I think he would change clubs to where he could play forward) then he would/should be offered a contract that reflects his worth to the team. This could result in a significant difference between what we’re offering a what another club may offer.

Great insight. Pay on hitting KPIs and performance, not so much potential (just my opinion). Would like to see him tear some big name teams apart next year to justify uber $$$.

No too trading Hogan! His spot should be CHF. 

There are to be some stiff players next season who won’t be in the best 22.

Viney, Hogan, Lever, Gaff all to fill a spot!

Bad idea.

He's not going to want to go to Freo they are rubbish. And I'm not sure it's great idea to make one of our main rivals (West Coast) stronger while weakening our forward options.

And now it is,  I am pushing for us to recruit a topline classy experienced mid... but the key to doing this is,,, what have we got to use to satisfy another club. If we identify a player that suits these needs.

 

So you see, what I want are classy mids, in RednBlue_  Not to trade out a player who I really like.  The crux is, we have to give up something, to get something we really need.

 

So I am trying to be creative.

I noted an article ( behind paywall...but quickly read at cafe ) ..Jay Clark HS ..other day writing along lines some here ( myself included ) suggest as to are we better/ worse ..with or without Jesse and what is his actual value...is ..as player...or tradable asset ?

But three commas in a row is not anything. It is usually followed by the 'sticky keys' popup that comes up wondering whether you need help easing use of the keyboard and avoid injuries.

whilst i think his best position is chf i wouldn't be averse to him being tried at chb (or a swing-man kp player)

If Weideman comes on then Hogan will have to spend longer periods up the ground or in the midfield. You can't play 3 tall forwards in the modern game. 

Hogan absolutely needs to be played as a CHF that covers territory. Pushing into the middle and occasionally tracking back.

Almost positive that Hogan played CHF his underage All-oz year but was NAMED at CHB...in much the same way that one year Pavlich played forward all year but was named at FB

I never quite got that. Tmac was a fwd when younger. Indeed when drafted ( iirc) it was to play fwd. For whatever reason that didn't last long and he played down back ... until the clever idea of moving him forward.

Hogan was a back. Might explain his god awful approach in kicking So why would you not think it a possibility to play him there. But ... he was brought here ( Dees ) to kick goals. His effectiveness is severely reduced against decent opposition who have worked out how to nueter him. Net result those games ... not a lot really.

Games against less capable opposition he can/not-always have a day out. Could be argued that anyone could kick those goals. So is Hogan of any profound use only then ? 

This is where some, and I agree, think that Hogan's value to us may be best realised ... not playing for us.

Many folk are now simply trying to find where to put him. For mine it's the trade table. Not because I don't think he can play. He can. I just don't think he's the 'result' we were all hoping for.

Just think about the perception of that in the marketplace: suffers navicular injury, then quickly put up for trade...

I think his value on the market has never been lower. Most clubs would be wary of offering too much.
