I have come to realise on Demonland that there are some Posters that just object and want to counter argue just for the sake of it.  It would make a really interesting study.

I suspect that it might have something to do with perhaps not having been player they wanted to be or just general lack of life achievement which manifests itself in keyboard warrior syndrome.

As I say, the "let's tear it down", "let's doubt it", "let's ridicule it" reaction is alive and well at Demonland.

I've given you a bit of good mail, totally backed up by Pro Dee and all you want to do is still dispute it.

It's none of that for me.  I questioned it as, up until now, you've had no history in being someone with inside info and we've been burnt by far too many over that time span for me to just accept any old rumour posted on this board.  There has been more false info than correct info in the last decade and you could count on one hand the ones you could really trust to be honest.

As you say, PD backed it up with some of his info so that's fine.  But just as you're more than welcome to post 'inside info', others are allowed to question it as well.  That's life.

It's not a DL problem, it's a people problem. Social media (inc forums) and not necessarily related to lack of attainment etc.

Thanks for sharing your insights? - I won't get my knickers in a knot if untrue.

Cheers man for sharing ?

As some of you know, particularly Skuitt, many weeks ago I posted that the Dees had an arrangement in place that if Sydney could be satisfied with a very high Draft Pick, Hannaberry would be Demon next year on a long term contract, and as I stated, “very big coin”

Let me make it clear that my Demonland Post was the very first mention in any form of media about Hannaberry breaking a Contract with more than 2 full seasons to run.  A couple of weeks later Damian Barrett & others started to get a sniff and started running stories.

As we now all know, the Saints became aware of Dan’s availability and are in for anything with a pulse and have taken over the running.

Let me update you.  About 2 weeks ago, the Dees informed Dan’s management & the Swans that due to the necessary but unexpected increase in the contract values of some recent signings that the Melb FC would be withdrawing any interest in that Trade.  I believe that the Club also had to increase their offer for Andrew Gaff which made a 4/5 year $800k offer to Dan rather difficult.

I can also inform you all that the Swans are desperate for the Hannaberry trade to happen as they are extremely keen on Steven May and need the Pick and the salary cap relief.

I have also been told that the Tom Lynch to Richmond deal has been done.

Also, just to make yesterday’s defeat worse.  In addition to Buddy having the exact same heal injury that sidelined Mitchell Starc for so long, Josh Kennedy has a knee injury that hasn’t allowed him to train for weeks and is also being jabbed to play.

I got told the same thing a couple of months ago and posted it in another thread and got torn to shreds.

I have also been told by the same person that Gaff is back On.  We have upped the ante.

Too similar a posting style to not ask the question.

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying mate. Simply, if we were interested previously, I doubt we still are.

For those who may have missed it, goodwindees jokes of my particular awareness of his original mail in the OP because I playfully ran a thorough 'forensic investigation' of his/her entire posting history in response - which I personally deemed to be consistent and reliable. In doing so, I also came across a previous post from Prodee who had mentioned a fairly direct line to the player in question. Again, perfectly consistent. These guys don't need me to back them up - especially when I have no actual knowledge myself - but the mail as it has at least been reported to/by them is entirely credible - and that's regardless of goodwindees misspelling my name in the OP. :P

I'm not sure that Hannebery was ever the right fit for our midfield, but I am glad to hear that the club is actively seeking ready made midfielders in this trade / draft period.

We have badly neglected the midfield over the past couple of years, and our depth is severely lacking in this area. Gaff would be a great get and I hope there are other free agents on our hit list as well.

Haha, this is a ridiculous post.

Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Tyson, Petracca. Not to mention guys like Harmes and Salem.

All been drafted or recruited in the past 5 or so years.

We've built a powerhouse midfield over the past couple of years and are clearly looking to add to it further, by pursuing the likes of Gaff.

Our young midfield will soon be, if it isnt already, they envy of the entire league.

If Trac gets his [censored] together we will be as good or better than the Geelong and Brisbane dynastic lists mids-wise.

Slot in a fit Lever, and find the perfect spot for Hogan and we in the zone for several years.

(As long as we dont start bleeding players who chase coin elsewhere)

Very glad Hanneberry is out of our sights. It is clear why Sydney are flicking him.

Gaff won’t be coming to the Dees either apparently.

Jack Steven talking to Geelong. Maybe we should drive his price up

Tells me Geelong will have to make salary cap room

Which of the holy trinity is for the chop?

the little master?

BTW Hanneberry is cooked No way do we want him.

i would much prefer hannebery to steven

steven's up-and-under kicks to no one in particular are infuriating to watch

he's a classic 'goer' - a bit like jones in that respect - and basically the heart and soul of the aints' midfield...which says a lot about their midfield

Saints have offered a ridiculous deal for a guy who’s form wouldn’t even see him in our best 22

I can officially say it won't be Melbourne, although that's no surprise.  The Dees aren't interested.

I've seen a text directly sent from Hannebery confirming it won't be Melbourne.

And why would we be interested ?  His body is shot and we don't need him.

very unkind about one of your fellow Xavier cohorts....

The crash and bash has caught up to his slight body.

Going to the saints to start to top up his super.

Injuries have taken their toll.

Compared to 2 years ago he is cooked.

Saints are potentially shafting themselves here.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.
