This is good for us! Opens up the top 4, but more importantly means if we win tomorrow we are a lot safer in the 8.

Port play Pies next week.

Now come on brisbane pull a miracle out of the hat and beat those pies.

About to watch the gws crows game. Barracking hard for the crows.

Hilarious!!

great result for us. Pies beat Port next week and we beat Sydney tomorrow and Port cannot finish higher than us

The "Jack Watt's moves to Port and still fails to play finals" story is a possibility, and would be pretty sad for him.

Ah well, we will just have to beat Meth Coast twice in a month over there.

Why? Hawthorn and Eagles winning is dream scenario. Fewer teams in contention is good. Really don't understand people wanting Geelong and Port to win today.

That was great result for us! Don't know how anyone could think otherwise. If Brisbane win tonight, it locks one of Port or Collingwood onto 12 wins until the final round of the year. It's great for our finals chances, so long as we win against Sydney.

Stop dreaming about finishing 2nd. West Coast were way too far ahead as it is and they have less to play for next week. Win win.

Maybe take a 2nd look at their reasoning.

Faint top 2/3 hopes. I'm all in on insurance plan.

Agree praha. Won't count for squat though, if we can't capitalise tomorrow.

We can still finish 2nd. 4th, 5th or 6th is most likely but I can't see either of GWS or WC dropping. Hawthorn may replace us in top 4. but we get a home final.

Another exciting finish, sure. But in those final frantic minutes I was thinking a 50 metre goal square would make this really exciting.

Wet coke winning is a good result for us. We have to make the 8 first and foremost. With their injuries I would dare to say that port may not win another match.

Port had the ball in there forward half with 90 seconds to go, to then allow 2 goals is a choke of epic proportions

Go lions.

I wonder, if we'll have the guts to throw Tom MacDonald back in defence for a quarter if we have a solid lead in the last, like the Eagles had the guts to throw McGovern forward for a quarter.

Finally someone spoken out about geelong. https://www.3aw.com.au/game-day-hawthorn-v-geelong-at-the-mcg/

Geelong legend Jimmy Bartel said it’s not good enough.

“You can’t have that top-end talent, that experienced coaching panel, a massive home-ground advantage, and miss the finals,” Jimmy said.

...and the Umpire review panel......

Mate you and so many others can cream your tweeds about making the finals, a Port win meant we had 2nd place in our own destiny, win 3, we had 2nd guaranteed, Port losing today means we have to rely on other results.

I don’t give a rats clacker about making the 8, this is an open season, any team can make the Grand Final where anything can happen, I wanted us to have the best opportunity to do that, Eagles winning limits it.

You know teams can win from outside the top 4 now, don’t you?

Besides, you’re dreaming if you think we could finish top 2. West Coast play Brisbane in round 23. It was never going to happen.

I want to make the 8. That is first and foremost. The rest we can worry about later.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
