GAMEDAY - Round 16

It's pretty much a lose-lose game.

If we win, we'll either struggle (fail), or it'll be a ho-hum performance (fail), or we'll smash them, in which case it will be either "where was that last week" or "flat track bullies/pretenders" again.

It's only a lose-lose game for those who want it to be that way.

For me, I'll be happy with a win to help kick start our season again.  I still firmly believe that our best footy can match it with any team in the league (with the exception possibly being the Tigers at the MCG) and we have plenty of time to correct the mistakes we've been making and right the ship.  We can do that with a win tonight and I see that as a positive thing, regardless of how it is achieved.

Already 27 degrees and 62% humidity at the ground.  Does the humidity change much after the sun goes down?

With tonights game in the bag by 10 goals, I'm already thinking of our recovery next week for the Dogs game.

I shall end my perilous outback odyssey in Darwin this afternoon and make a grand entrance at the football this evening

I expect the team to be inspired by my presence and thrash those Westralians soundly!

I see images of Immortan Joe's speech to the starving masses at his compound in the early scenes of Mad Max when I think of that.

I have never gambled on footy, but it is seriously tempting to throw a few dollars at the Dockers.

We should win, but we should have won several times lately.

Into $1.11 on Sportsbet, and Freo out to $6.70 after being $5.80 during the week. Ludicrous odds, just like last week when Saints were $7. Melb should NEVER be 10 to 1 on in a contest.

Its pretty simple. Were in the top 8 (just) have 4 points up for grabs and with a healthy percentage, and a tight race for top 4 and top 8 and some tight ganes coming up against sides that dont lose by big margins, need to boost our percentage where we can. Go Melbourne!

T_U, your definition of lose-lose seems to be what people / commentators might say. As far as I am concerned losing or winning is purely about the result of the game and its consequences for our season. The commentary is hot air, just as it was when we were winning.

The 4 points is best to expect. Forward efficiency and solid defence will be a bonus. But we don’t want to see cheap goals conceded from rebounds. The Crystal ball  will still remain opaque win or lose.

That.  I'm not sure whether I find the positive commentary when we are winning more or less annoying than the negative when we lose.  I try to avoid both.   I guess if we were winning continually, I may feel more relaxed about the positive commentary, but till then it just reinforces my MFCSS.

Its tempting to drop a $20 on Freo for the win to hedge bets in case we lose.

Not sure how I’d handle another biased pathetic umpiring performance and a sub par performance by our boys.

Heartened by the selections made for pace as we got it wrong last week . And was good to hear Maxys veiw on the club podcast .

Yep sure is , win last week and tonight, pies and west coast get rolled and we would have been 2nd.

Everytime we play poorly that Jones statement after R23 makes my blood boil.

Pay on performance is so suited to Melbourne.

NO WAY WE LOSE THIS GAME!!!......

.....but if we do, can we open the drafting and trading forum please?

If so we could make a deal with Adelaide. They trade us Sloan and we tank so that they get a better first round draft pick.

Gee I wish I was in Darwin to get some warm weather. Would feel more confident if this game was at the G. Have no idea what to expect tonight. But as I wrote last week it would be good to see Jesse kick some goals.

Would love to see Jeffy crumb some goals to. I just hope we win and win well.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
