Typical double standards of the AFL; hysterical about some forms of violence, uninterested in other forms.

Pathetic!

So you are now allowed to punch someone in the guts with the ball no where in sight?

Great game we have this AFL

I thought they were cutting down on this? Didn't Clarry get a fine in the JLT for less than this.

Seriously what do you really expect from such a corrupt and compromised organisation as AFL and their henchman at match review.

Blatant double standards.

I will never forget Bernie being reduced to vomiting after some north thug gut punched him which was also ignored.

Such a bunch of bloody blatant hypocrites.

FFS this makes me angry. if you look at where that punch is aimed its right on clarrys  solar plexus. Which, if youve ever been punched there is both painful and a bit debilitating. Honestly..how the f@uck does he get away with that??! Imagine if it were the other way around. Im really sick of the shite this club and especially this player puts up with. Wish SOMEONE in this, What often seems like an overly polite, [censored] weak club would speak up for us. This is the trouble with taking AFL money I suppose.

While we're talking about the 20/20 sight of maggots, did anyone see the Boundary maggot who paid out of bounce, when behind play, on the boundary, where he would have had to have seen through two players, when another Boundary maggot who was ten metres ahead of play on the boundary, didn't call the ball out at all. I guess they were just watching the great game.......

I’m surprised at myself for getting angry over this. Just when I started to calm down. It’s not a joke anymore as it’s no longer funny.

I suppose Steele threw his arms out saying he didn’t touch him. Is this the same schmuck that a threw a cheap one at Max’s back the first time we played them at Etihad 8 weeks ago?

Open hand to the stomach. Low impact.

Probably would have been looked at if Oliver didn't exaggerate contact. He needs to cut this out of his game.

Should have been a fine based on what Oliver copped in JLT.

Great game we have this AFL

A precedent. Barry Hall's preliminary final hit on the poor Saints player. A cheap shot straight in the guts. To be fair to Barry, it was in play. The ball was about 90 metres away so quite close really.

BAMF - clearly YOU have never received a totally unanticipated punch in the guts.  Next there will be folk suggesting that Oliver is a serial diver (which is what you are implying) and maybe should be fined or even suspended for that.

Between umpiring and MRP the game has me confused that’s for sure and agree totally, especially last year he would’ve got 3-4

It's open season on our players from opposition players and umpires since we were 8-3. Will continue until we are out of contention.

Actually, the reason why I have such a strong opinion is because I HAVE been punched in guts unanticipated.

Well, to be fair, as a 17 year old who could run all day and had pace to burn playing against men in a tough league I was always sort of expecting some attention. Nothing like a punch in the gut to slow a young player down to your speed. I have copped much worse than that hit on Oliver.

I completely feel for Oliver. He was coping a hard tag, and while I didn't see any other physical contact, no doubt there was.

I am glad the AFL are issuing fines to stomp this out.

I feel he goes to ground too easily. The contact is there, but he exaggerates. He has done it a few times. Its not too late for him to stop.

I also dislike how Vince does it on regular occurrence.

I also have a severe dislike for Rance, Lindsy Thomas, Toby Mclean and Rhys Matherson.

I think a fine is what it deserved. Players are shoving chests every game and Steele went a bit low and caught Clarry by surprise. Low impact blah blah move on.

I am more interested in the fact that it was the easiest free kick for the umpires to call all day. Hits before the bounce like that are called often. The umpire at the centre bounce had his back turned but there were at least two other field umpires watching what occured. I watched them sort of flinch and then relax as the umpire bounced the ball but it felt like more then enough time. I'd like cheap hits before the bounce in the centre to be something umpires look at.

Maybe it can be rule of the week.

exaggerated? he was caught totally unawares, didn't see it coming, check the video

not even sure it was open handed either

most annoying was not one maggot saw it and paid a free even though one would have to be blind

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
