Moscow Calling...

One of the advantages of being overseas is that in Mellbourne time you are up all night.

I thought it was very nice of the Socceroos to schedule their opening game against France during the MFC Bye.

FIFA was obviously scared of a clash with the Antipodean power house the MFC has become.

QB has always been special and it is even more so now because of Neale Daniher.

The Pies think they are travelling well but we know a team who is travelling even better.

Dees by 30 ...Go Dees

PS If you want to drop over to the soccer thread on Demonlands Other Sports forum I will be posting about my time in Kazan where the socceroos are based and where they play their opening match next week.

DJ, you must be really jet-lagged, a dangerous combination with the vodka .

The game was yesterday, we won by 83 points, Hogan kicked 8 and now leads the Coleman by 5 goals.   Fritsch was BOG.

The news will get there soon, comrade.

I wish my monster truck star for sleeping in till 6 incentive program worked on my son every day - he must sense the Occassion that today is.

awaking at 4.45am without a scheduled flight to Hawaii or France or to head to the snow is most uncivilised.

I knew I slept in but was never gonna beat that.

Gotta go to work but start at 6, work through lunch and knock off at 2 I should be laughing.

Can really see another 10 goal win here. I think we are a 5 goal better side than the pies and will turn it on today on the big stage.

Hibberd to have a huge one.

Dee's by 64.

Game stsrts at 10.20pm here.

Looking forward with trepidation.  We’ve played some fabulously exciting footy the past 6 weeks, but it seemed all opponents were playing poorly!

Hopefully we forced them to be poor, but I’m still aprehensive what will happen when a good team really brings their best game against us!

Must think its Christmas day.

Toy insanity.....

3:20 start in my part of the world. Will be at the G, cheer squad end. Sunny day expected, will also shower at halftime.

Two big milestones today.  Trac plays his 50th game, and Jordie Lewis , with his first disposal of the day, will hit 7000 disposals in the AFL.  (Who keeps track of that stuff??  LOL)

As I've said many times in the past, there's two things that bring me joy.  The first is Melb winning, and the second is Collingwood losing.  When they happen in the same game I am ecstatic!!  May today's game be the one!!

GO DEES!!!!

Beijing saying hello back, though in actuality I'll be on a train to Hangzhou whilst game on. Here's hoping the wifi works lol... otherwise i might be only able to check scores occasionally .

Pies won't be bucking the trend today. Dees by 13 in a tussle.

Work for me alas.

But will keep an eye on the game. I wonder if the ease of some our victories will come back to bite today.

Our win streak will come to an end at some point. I hope it will not be today as it really does mean something.

cant go today spiral fracture in foot looks 4-6 looking forward to big win go dees

Should be at work today... however I wrecked my back and have been on leave for 2 weeks, now I don't miss any of this game, happy days!

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
