Where did you hear this? Nothing, and I mean nothing has been reported as such. In fact, it's the exact opposite...

It was a comment on the bottom of an article on Ah Chee.  Can’t seem to locate it again.  I hope the head of agreement is true (and at least we are back on topic....). If I can find it, I will post a link.....

If you find the article I would love to read it. Something tells me you may have miss read it, as I'm sure Langdon comming out and saying that would warrant more than a bi-line at the bottom on an article about a different player.

This is exactly my point. How can Richmond and Collingwood have that kind of money and we don't when you compare lists? They certainly have more a graders than we do. So have we tied up too much money paying b and c graders?

That appears to be a valid point Watto

We are paying too much fo a team that finished 17th  and that has a questionable ability to identify and develop a grade players.

buck_nekkid was saying that Langdon had come out and said it himself that he wanted to return to Victoria, not necessarily the demons, which I can't find anywhere. I know it's not guaranteed, but as reports would suggest a commital agreement has been signed to get him to Melbourne, which would mean he's most likely to join us. If he came out and said that now, after all the reports, it would be huge news and be all over the place.

The two statements don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's quite possible that Langdon could say his plan was always to return to Victoria irrespective of who he got to pay with AND the team that he ends up agreeing to play with is Melbourne.

It was more the way it was originally written. We're hearing that Langdon is committed to "Joining the Dees" and then to say he's come out and said that he doesn't necessarily have to go to Melbourne is the exact opposite of reports, which is why I was saying it would be huge news. I agree with what you're saying, but a comment like that would have been one from over a week ago, not the last couple of days. Plus if it was from an article about Callum Ah Chee, then it would have been after the current reports.

The salary cap floor does not help - having to spend 95% or more, and last year would have meant a number of out of contract players got PAID based on a very good season.

In The Age.

Meanwhile Fremantle's Ed Langdon has not decided he wants to join Melbourne in the upcoming trade period although he is likely to request a trade back to Victoria.

The article doesn't quote Langdon and says we are a chance to land him, but other clubs are interested. Not unusual at this time of year for rival media outlets to 'dis' each others claims.   It might also be a ploy by some to drive his currency up.

Funny enough, after reading the little bi-line in the article, it sounds to me like someone wanting/hoping to push Langdon to Collingwood by using his brother. The fact that no one else has run with this, and it isn't a big news headline like when he was suggested to have chosen Melbourne, makes me believe that it doesn't carry as much weight. I like Ryan, but his articles have always been on the lower end of breaking news.

This should be a straightforward trade, but I can see it dragging deep into the trade period. Freo will be chasing Tim Kelly hard and will be offloading BHill first, so I'd say we'll be waiting to see the outcome of those first, unless there planning on bundling our 2nd with one of their firsts (getting one for BHill) for Kelly, in which case it'll be one of the first trades done.

Fremantle are a hot mess and that dweeb Bell has a lot on his plate.

Given how many of his players apparently want out, Langdon should be the least of his problems. He has bigger fish to fry, and should want to get this deal done early and quickly.

Bell and Logic do not compute.

I suspect Bell may try and settle the Langdon deal early and work hard on getting maximum value for Hill. i think the Saints might get screwed there.

pick 20 for Langdon seems a win win for both clubs

I had to have a chuckle at Jones being considered a crucial re-signing. Love the guy and all he's done at the club, but he's getting an extra year based on his standing at the club. Certainly not on form.

With Langdon, it sounds positive but until he or his manager comes out and says "Melbourne is his choice" I'm not ruling out a swoop in by someone else.

I’m so confused already with all the trade algorithms.  It’s a busy crazy time.

It is busy and crazy, and confusingly unreliable. Send out The Ox and Davey - go north, south, east and west. Pick us another Ox, another Davey and while you're at it, another Neitz. There must be a Tulip hiding in the local leagues, as well. Find him.

The Hun now reporting Langdon is meeting “clubs” in Melbourne and Dees have stated emphatically that they have no in principle agreement with him to come to the Dees. Sam Edmund and Jon Ralph authors of this article and one on 27 Aug saying we’ve got him and there’s an in principle agreement.

So what happened? Who’s making stuff up. Hint. Not the Club.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
