Let me tell you, there is a wall of silence from those who one might regard as 'normal people', well-mannered people and football enthusiasts who normally meet and greet in bucket-loads of conviviality.  No more - particularly this week with the Crows match approaching.

Visit Adelaide a lot for business. Crows supporters are "special." The closest we come to them in Victoria is probably the modern Hawthorn supporter.

They really expect to win the flag most years.

Port supporters may be rabid but at least they are philosophical (think Collingwood).

Have not spent much time in Perth but I wonder if Eagles supporters are similar to those who support the Crows.

    The Crows are set to welcome back A grader Crouch, for the indigenous round game in the Alice.

    Also Wayne Milera (hamstring) and defender Luke Brown are expected to be available.

     

    Is the D's bubble ready to burst, after a run of 4 on the trot ?

    Viney still well underdone, and we haven't beaten anyone of note, yet.   Will the D's be ahead of themselves this week, after a handful of wins. 

     

    This game on the big stage, will be our biggest test of the Year.

    Are we ready, or are we pretending, again?

    Perhaps you should go away and watch 186. We will absolutely dominate the Crow Eaters on Sunday and win by 30-40 points.

    Certainly we are getting Adelaide at about the best time. They have a stack of A-graders missing. 

    But even so, the side they’ll field will be the best we’ve faced since Richmond. 

    IMO, we should win this game.

    Win a few games and everyone thinks our players are cocky and are ahead of themselves, don't dare to show any happiness. Carlton are cocky I think they turned up thinking they were just going to win.

    I'm sure the players have been building themselves up for this match, and they have been improving every week since the loss to Richmond so we really are hitting Adelaide at the best time with their injuries and our form.

    The most exciting thing for me is watching our forward line start to gel; TMac, Hogan, and Melksham in particular. If we can get Jeffy in there in good form that is a very serious forward line.

    Could be a great victory, for sure. Are we all sitting, at present, on the edge of the seat with nervous tremors? Sure does fully occupy the mind and the full, daily routine, often at the most inappropriate moments. Hate to harp, but I feel obliged to mention it: I would really like to see Pedo snuck into the fwd line from the bench across the game; I would like to see Spargo rested and Garlett come into the fwd pocket. I thought that the Clarrie fakes for a Brayshaw centre clearance and vice-versa were absolutely fantastic - and kept opponents guessing where to intercept on Gawn's taps at the centre bounces.

    The faux-toughness at the start of the game from Carlton was pretty pathetic, they clearly came out thinking they were going to get inside our players heads. I’m glad we put our heads down and just concentrated on the game.

    My wish for this game is, if Lever gets manhandled, for his MFC team mates to come barrelling in and ante up. Jones to come in with some rolled gold champagne jumper punching. Maybe a cheeky nipple tweak for good measure.

    A strong showing against Radelaide will be a step in right direction.

    A loss means need to smash pies and dogs.

    Carlton were cocky (a) because they are Carlton and (b) they were coming off one on the trot

    Wasn't it DV8 who said we all need to be more positive and less negative?

    Maybe the borderline veil of negativity/nervousness is a self protection measure. I've already conceded we'll lose so I can be all frowny face "I KNEW IT" (grumble grumble) rather than actually disappointed.

    If we lose this game the media will be so quick in pulling out the branding iron and stamping us as downhill skiers, flat track bullies etc.

    I don’t want that to happen.

    I think this will be another percentage boosting game for us.

      A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

    • NON-MFC: Round 07

      Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans.Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

      For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

    • CASEY: UWS Giants

      The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
