Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is daveydee the same guy that somehow tried to blame the supporters for team losing?

Like the supporters (admittedly a small bunch) I was with in the Redlegs who faithfully turned up every week when the team won 2 games for the year in 2012 and copped 15 goal floggings most matches? What we were supposed to be happy when Mark Neeld took a list that could at least get a few big wins in '10-'11 and completely ran our team into ground?

That's a myth - I've said on numerous occasions Demons have some of the best supporters in the AFL.

Now to Neeldy, often coaches are used as scapegoats and does make great media to sell newspapers - its almost become a sport - what coach will go first. I wish Neeldy well and hope he moves onto bigger and better opportunities.

LOL

And how nice is it to hear Slobbo bagging one of his own, Mr Likeable who has zero tackles the last 2 weeks - a senior team member leading the defence in a beleaguered team? ZERO tackles in two games played largely in EssUndone’s back half.  I wonder which of his teammates he berated this week, and how many M&Ms he petulantly swiped from the bowls on the table. Garry Lyon also had @ bit of a go at him on SEN.

Apart from Premiership coach of the Collingwood midfield, he'll never ever get a better opportunity than Senior Coach of the Melbourne Football Club. He cocked that one up pretty good though.

No - can’t say I do. Just feel every week AFL football has 9 winning teams - 9 losing teams. It was only like 8 games ago Bombers where playing finals football.

Maybe Neeldy is an “easy” target and best thing for him and his family is to move on - don’t look back and embrace a new future, stuff what many anonymous posters are saying on social media sites.

I remember when Bailey got the sack and he was asked his opinion on the list, he was resolute in his belief he’d built the makings of a list that could play finals quickly. Now everyone has their own belief on the state of a list but clearly they were in different universes of opinions as Neeld tore shreds to the entire list and seemed to destroy any confidence that Bailey had built in them.

FWIW in hindsight I think they it was somewhere in the middle of the two opinions. Bailey (when the lads played their best) were playing his way and it was exciting, but when they dropped off they had no discipline or structure. Neeld seemed to come in and rip out the confidence for their positive ball movement and (I believe) try to build a game plan based around rigid structures. He didn’t do anything maliciously, he did what he thought was right. He was wrong.

His one (positive) legacy is that he did create more professional training ethics in the playing group. We were woefully behind on that for a long time and he at least gave Roos and Co a starting point for that.

Neeld was no scapegoat he was a horrible excuse for a coach who prematurely ended the careers of young players and nearly ripped the heart out of our football club. He was so bad he should just about be sued for negligence! (yes I am suffering PTSD from his 30 odd games in charge)

I don't particularly wish him well he's been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last several years to completely turn everything he touches to ****. Anyway that's it I never want to think about him again...

Bails was one of the nicest blokes you would ever meet, wicked dry sense of humour, but imho too friendly with the players.

Neeldy was an ex-school teacher and a tough no nonsense disciplinary.

However, club was heavily under resourced for 2 first time AFL coaches. I could never blame the coach - tough gig MFC coaching.?

Gees, you don’t hold a grudge, do you.

i found those years much easier to cope with as a raging alcoholic, now I enjoy a drink watching the footy.

So the club released an official lie about the departure of Mark Neeld. Do you think they may have lied about anything else at the club over the past few years? Nah.

Id also just like to say i will always hate Essendon.

Who delivered the CEO to your doorstep? Who approved every board member you have? Who gave you a "loan" to pay out certain contracts? Therefore effectively allowing you to pick up an experienced AFL coach & media performer in Paul Roos.

However more importantly - what part of the MFC community was excluded from the whole process? ie CEO selection & Board selection.

Culture is a mindset across your whole community.

You are a tigers supporter. Stop stirring the mud.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
