Round 5 Non-MFC Games

Essendon are no good.

They will still beat us next week.

Dunn and Howe would still make a huge difference to our side.. the fact we gave up Howe for absolute peanuts shows how poor our list management been.. The two 1st round picks for lever is the topping point for me.

Glass half full eh.

More niggles / injuries for Essendon on a short break please (nothing major of course) - we need to win next week.

Howe wanted out, he requested the trade.

We had lined up GC for him in return for a top 10 pick and he was going to be on a pile of cash.  Buckley swooped in at the 11th hour and he elected Collingwood.

We were over a barrel and took whatever we could get.  It wasn’t a management decision, he wanted out.

You must have been a really smart player '39  saying that both of the above play for us.........

They will score less than us against a team worse than Richmond. I think we'll be slight favorites, but we need to bring the pressure and belief. I believe!

us, favourites, you say? guaranteed loss then innit

Bombers suck as bad as us.   Sunday is a coin flip.

Anyone who thinks Howe is as good as Lever needs a reality check.

Joe cant hit the side of a barn atm, we should smash these losers. Back on our home ground at Jihaad stadium will help too....at least it wont be wet~!

God Heppell looks ridiculous.

Glass half full eh.

From what I have seen this year, yes unless proven otherwise.

Just the NINE clangers from Daniher.

What a clown

Does the main umpire usually go up to the winning captain (or both captains) after a game and say "well played"??

Having an extra day break over the bombers especially as they played two players down with reduced rotations is a significant advantage

no excuses, just get it done FFS

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
