Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Round 5 Non-MFC Games

The problem is, we gave up a lot more for Lever than we got for Howe.

The net loss is quite large.

Maybe we should wait more than 5 games to look at the net loss?

Lever was good yesterday and I still reckon he is at about 10% of his actual top capability. Howe is as good as he will ever be, which is B grade at best.

By the end of the year we should have a good idea. By memory the two first rounders with swap backs equaled to us paying about a pick 4 to 5 in points assuming we made the bottom of the eight this year.

Every ladder spot we finish up above that decreases what we paid for Lever. Conversely a bottom part of the ladder finish increases the ultimate cost......

us, favourites, you say? guaranteed loss then innit

We were favorites against North and got it done. Our players just need to relax and believe this week. They were clearly a bit nervy last night and that led to fumbles. We relax, we can hold the ball and win.

This Sunday at Etihad has the potential to be a horrible game to watch.

I remember this being the theme heading into last years game with Essendon too.

We had lost Hogan for the game and all the talk was not to lower the eyes, hit up targets and we will get the job done.

We did, and we won.

You know they are going well when Goddard throws the toys out of his cot. lol

He really is (and always has been) a thoroughly unlikeable pratt

Collingwood are good, they’ve been building all year.

Started round 23 last year actually - gained self belief that day ?

Dunn and Howe would still make a huge difference to our side.. the fact we gave up Howe for absolute peanuts shows how poor our list management been.. The two 1st round picks for lever is the topping point for me.

It's been said already but this is some revisionist bullsh*t.

Howe wanted out.

Anyone who thinks Howe is as good as Lever needs a reality check.

Almost as bad as those who want Dunn back.

Collingwood are good, they’ve been building all year.

No they're not, they're just average.

They got Adelaide on a down day, but so did Essendon and Essendon also aren't good.

They've otherwise beaten Carlton and Essendon.

I was there today, they make simple skill errors all over the place and have some truly sub-standard players.

They are carried by some sublime A-graders (Treloar, Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Grundy) and some exciting kids (Stephenson, De Goey).

But they're just one of those 8-10 average sides.

You must have been very impressed when he completely f****d up that goal opportunity in the 4th. How he made so many mistakes in one passage defies logic.

He's been half paced all game.

Lol. I saw a lot of Port Adelaide players at a stand still multiple times through the game - moments when Watts was still providing run. And yes he makes mistakes - were any as bad as our captain hand passing directly to a Richmond player 30m out directly in front? But that's a pretty immature response by me; expecting flawless play from any player is unreasonable (and I suppose unless they decide to tunnel it under their legs, mistakes are forgivable). It is also irrelevant - you guys will see what you want to see when it comes to Watts. And maybe he'll be dropped from Port Adelaide next week never to play again.

But here is the issue. We thought we were in a finals window. We gave up first round draft picks and a lot of $$ for a third man up based on this idea.  So our decision to offload an experienced half forward seems completely at odds with this focus - because we didn't have a ready to go replacement. I think Bayley will be solid - but he needs games. And he won't get them while we're in this "window".

I was surprised we pushed Watts out so hard, with nothing really to gain from it - but I really hoped our list was stronger then it appeared. So far it doesn't appear to be the case. Instead it looks like the decisions we made last year have hampered our list development.

And not even getting Howe and Dunn back will save us :D

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
