Josh 1,420 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Only quietly confident today but confident none the less. I find my self less and less worrying about weather Gawn or Hogan or Oliver or Jones will have massive days and more about how as a team we can can get over the line. Wife has been away all weekend so me and the boys will have to get rid of all the evidence of fun we have had, gonna be a big job. Lucky I have a few 500ml Carlsberg cans left. Hard to go past Mitchell in sizzling form for BOG but apart from him the Dee's will beat their opponents. Dee's by 32. 3

Fat Tony 5,337 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 We will need to play four quarters to win today. 1
deestar 159 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Going to be tough conditions. Definetly can't over use by hand today !

I think the conditions suit us more than ever now. It looks as though we are kickint it long at all costs. With hawthorn who are heavily reliant on controlling the footy and hitting up targets, the wet weather should play into our favour, especially if we are bombing it in our forward 50 for our smalls to crumb. 1
buck_nekkid 6,101 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I am nervous about this one, but if we apply pressure to the ball carrier all day, we can win this. I remember we played them at the G in greasy conditions a couple of seasons ago, and all they did was kick it off the deck to move it forward all day - and they beat us. We need to be tough and smart, but can do this. They have no matchup for Hogan, and what is Frawley going to do?
What 18,810 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 We are going in with the perfect team for the conditions - unlike Adelaide on Friday night who had way too many tall forwards. Our mids should thrive in the wet too, its their bread and butter. 2
John Crow Batty 8,892 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 (edited) Checking the weather radar there appears to be little rain for this afternoon. Perhaps a few isolated showers and only mild to moderate winds. Should be good conditions for the most. Edited April 14, 2018 by america de cali 1
Wiseblood 24,637 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 [censored] Whorethorn. Dees by 10 goals. 7
Diamond_Jim 12,773 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 No doubt after last night at Werribee that we have the right team balance in the forward line for the conditions. Bugg to kick 5 and to become the pin up boy for Demonland. On a serious note the season starts today.... win today and next week and the football world will start to take us seriously. It's been far too long at the bottom. 2
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Windy as hell out here in the country. Should be nice and swirly at the G
stevethemanjordan 6,952 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Opportunities. That’s all this AFL game is really about. Last year going into the final round of the season, an opportunity had presented itself thanks to the season we’d had. Win the game, and we’d be playing in the finals for the first time since 06. It was against a seriously undermanned Collingwood side and we absolutely fluffed it. For days, I was waiting for a statement from the club and an answer as to why and how we could lose such an important game against an undermanned side. The answer was surprising. Jones spoke of everything but that round 23 game. He spoke about the fact that we’d lost games during the season that we shouldn’t have. Well, Jonesy. Here is another opportunity. An opportunity against Hawthorn in round 4 where we can make a statement. A statement to let the football world know that we are genuinely turning the corner. We can string wins together. We can beat sides who we should be beating. And we can go into next week full of confidence and take it right up to the reigning premiers. We have an opportunity to change even if slightly, the story that the MFC become too content with themselves after a win. I want a four quarter team effort with us playing the “Melbourne way”, a term that I’ve heard a lot over pre season but have only seen glimpses of to date. There are no excuses today. Umpires, weather, personnel. It’s time to deliver. Give em’ hell Dees. 7 1

Today we learn how far we have come and by round 4 we should be ready to iron the kinks out of our inconsistencies. On paper we are better but they have high end players who consistently influence games and a well drilled game plan. Our best is better but time to show it for a long period.
