It’s so obvious Frost needs to come in to allow Lever to roam. Hunt and Wagner and not doing enough. Bugg has no skills. There need to be changes for next week.

Nothing wrong with Wagner's game again tonight. However I agree we seem to be lacking some dynamics in the back 6.

Rapt they won but why on earth would you think north is winnable?

because if Norf had not beaten us twice last year they would have been the wooden spooners last year.

And FCS we just cannot lose to them again

Was a win in the end. They will learn from it. What you are forgetting this is our first win up north since 2010. And we’ve proven we can fight back in the face of defeat. In the end it was less than half our original margin. When Viney and McDonald are back we’ll be in even better form. Bring on North

The huge positive for me was Hogan's performance.  23 touches, 9 marks, 5 goals and a ripping chase down in the second term.  He looks fit, hungry and ready to tear the competition apart.  When he plays like this we are such a better side for it.  Long may it continue!

North will be a really big challenge next week.

If we have 30 ready players to choose our 22 from, then maybe the coach should forget his under skilled favourites and pick a team that can win.

Woeful effort against wooden spooners.

Some good individual efforts saved the team.

For God's sake. We came off just over a 6 day break, had to travel after playing a tough game last week. We won ffs. Enjoy and think of next week. Geez there's some plonkers on here

We won, mate. You don't have to celebrate - god knows I'm not - but don't mourn. By round 23 this will have been long forgotten.

I’ll be laughing my ass off when our two guns return

We beat a team full of kids that won the wooden spoon last year. And almost lost the game not for their woeful kicking and a poor decision. Lets not get too excited.

We put a performance like that in against Norf and they will crucify us, like they did the Saints in the 4th.

Feels like a loss, because that reaffirmed last week. If something does not change quickly, we will not be playing finals in this current form.

It's a win, but tells a much more concerning story.

But still a win.

North are either flag favourites or the worst team of all time, depending on which half of that game you watched. Sorry, still not remotely afraid of them.

Not great. Now who wanted Garlett dropped after last week? He saved our bacon. Not a lot has changed, our midfield goes missing at crucial times. Bugg? One more chance, you have to kick them when you get the chance. I still think our game plan is deficient, as soon as we start to lose the contested possessions in the midfield we have no system to absorb pressure, use up time, deny possession etc.

Again we played a lowly side into form in the second half and made a tight game of it, why do we do that? I think we will struggle over the length of the season until we get Viney, TMac back and tweak our game plan to be more defensive.

Read my second sentence. Again we didn’t let them win. Early rounds are hard to call as many teams are still working out their game plans.

I reckon we were just ok but we still got the win and that’s the most important thing. Very humid at the ground the ball was like soap and our fellas were gassed in the end

A lot easy shots on goal missed, again. Against better opposition when opportunities are limited we will get burnt.

Unless we miss finals by 0.5% again

My man!

Let them back into the game giving them a false sense of security then we put our foot down very slightly. Crafty coaching if you ask me.

Still waiting for to see signs that there is fire in the belly after the finish to last season. At this stage its the same old MFC. Would have lost the game to a slightly better opponent. Lets not sugar coat it.

what's the problem? led all game. never headed

and still plenty of room for improvement

Exactly!

Room for improvement. But does anyone seriously think we’re going to try using this exact game plan again. Live and learn

If Goodwin doesn't bring in Frost to man Ben Brown and let Lever play his normal game I give up. Lever is atrocious 1-on-1 but I've been led to believe he's handy if he can be a 3rd defender. So let him do it.

It’s  like the Geelong game with a different result. We barely lost to a top 5 team, nobody’s happy. We let a bottom side team in, but beat them by 26 points nobody’s happy. Geese not every game is going to be decisive one way or the other

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
