Not being privy to his performances, i see he kicked 2 goals on the weekend and had 15 disposals.

Is the lad up to it? I hope if picked, he rises to the occasion???

Was picked in same draft as Oliver. Roos was all over him. Play the lad. Next year he will break it open.

Plenty of duds in that draft.

I said at the time we should of taken Curnow & so far I have no reason to change my mind.

Sometimes I reckon the AFL listen and lean, on these things.

I'd expect they will pick him above Peds for the last 2 games and finals if we make it (ggaaahhh I hope we do). Get some more games into him, high stakes games. He has shown a little bit for mine, but he really needs to start coming on if given the chance now and coming into next season.

Peds has shown he just doesn't cut it at senior level, Weids its time to shine sailor.

I mentioned in another thread that my information is that, at this stage, he will be seeking a trade at end of year. He is not happy with the limited opportunities he has had, citing that he gets the chop very easily whilst others seem to get different treatment. I suppose 15 games in 3 years would tend to back that up. At this stage, I really do not know what to make of him as he has not had a decent stint in the ones to settle in to a role. But I would suggest that if he is not selected this week, he is gone.

I'm not really sure what he'd mean by different treatment. Pedo usually gets the bullet almost as soon as he comes in and Tim Smith has played the same amount of games as Weed.

Hmmm that’s interesting. His dad swims laps at the pool I coach at, so will ask him when I see him next.

Bit rich considering he has also spent a bit of time on the injury list, and was about 12kgs wet when he got to Melbourne.

Having said that, it is his time now to show us that he is worth the early pick we invested in him. Needs to stand up and deliver, and they should play him from now until the season ends, whenever that may be. Regardless of how he performs. Nothing to lose, as literally we are cooked.

This will be the making of another great Melbourne forward. Unleash the Weid!!

IF that is the case, I doubt we’d let him go unless the trade offer was significant.  His stocks are as low now as they could ever be and he’s coming to an age and size that he can start to make an impact.  We’ve already invested a lot of time in him and out no 1 forward has just gone down with what is a potentially very serious injury.  Contracted to the end of 2019, so I’d hope we keep him.

Trade now while there is still some value

That’s the gamble.

Id say he has very little value at the moment so would rather keep him and look to build upon his potential.

It comes down to whether you think he has what it takes at senior level.  I think he has the makings of a decent player and could surprise a few in the next year or two.  With that said, I completely understand  people who aren’t convinced as he hasn’t had a great showing at senior level as yet.

I doubt anyone would offer better than a third round pick.

It's Weed time.

Form in the 2's.

Taylor made form to step in and grab his chance.

He has a strong tackle and is a good grab.

If he nails his set shots and does the defensive work he could be the tonic for a rejuvenated side coming into finals.

Sink or Swim.

You are correct. I just see nothing that suggests he is an AFL level talent.

I just think we are better playing him out this season at Casey then see what he can do senior level in 2019 after another pre season.

Why am I suffering flashbacks to the Juice ?

Mind you his form at VFL level was pretty stunning before he got his call up.

Interesting point and I probably agree. Out of interest what do you think Moore and McCartin would command on the trade market. Not much more than the Weid perhaps a second round.

For mine, he looks quite elegant.

The time is now.

After nearly three years on the list, it's time for Weed to show something. I don't expect 7 goals, 10 marks and 25 possessions. A couple of goals, the ability to bring the ball to the ground and some relief for Maxy in the ruck will be enough for mine. Basically what Pedo did last year before Father Time caught up with him.

I think this game will say a lot. Weed for mine has looked as though he feels he doesn't belong at the top level. His gait, facial expressions and when he goes to mark screams reticence. His tackling is the exception to this. He now needs to transfer that confidence to the rest of his game.

If Pedo can do a better job trying to get us into the finals than Weid then Pedo stays.

Can't afford to have someone on his L plates in MFC's two most important weeks in years.

Having said that Pedo has been atrocious this year in the seniors. A real step back from a good 2017.

I would have thought McCartin would be a round 2-3.  Talent probably places him in the 2nd, concussions and health/injury issues push him to third...

For the life of me I simply do not understand the hype around Darcy Moore and would be flabbergasted if a club surrendered a first round pick for him.

Appears injury prone as well TPF39

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
