What the Fritsch

The interesting part for me, and it may have already been said, was that we paid a small percentage of Jack's contract to ensure we got Pick 31 and not Pick 47, which was originally being offered.  West Coast were very keen on Fritsch and, with Pick 31, it allowed us to get in ahead of them.

Funny you should say that....that's the same thing Roos said about Watts

And that’s what made Watts extra frustrating, he does.

Looking forward to seeing Fritsch play round 1.

It sounds like the market was very cold for Jack, and we added in a bit of incentive to get the deal we needed.

On and on...

One day, the truth may be known

Good luck to Jack, double good luck to Bayley....

It's no mystery. The club didn't want Watts. They took what they could.

Don't beat yourself up. Players come and go all the time. We have 5 players playing from rd 1 2014 in our best 22..

It is nobody's fault other than Watts.

It appears that the boys call him Frittata, that may have been mentioned before, or not.

Think it is Fritta. Same as what the lads from Coldstream call him. Just as an aside, his father's nickname is the General. One of the toughest blokes you would ever come across. Despite the small frame Bayley won't be a shrinking violet.

Funny, I reported the same at the time.
There's a reason Geelong & Sydney passed eventually after a little digging.
Same reason Port shipped Impey to Hawthorn, ironically.

That's interesting 'Mach5'...I've heard a little about Impey but not a lot.

Is there anywhere an "official" list of player nicknames? I'm not interested in what we might think players should be called, but what the players are actually called by their family or team-mates. I know Jones is Chunk, ANB is Nibbler. What else?

Heard recently that Todd tried to get rid of Watts over 3 or 4 years finally suceeded. Was there a personal problem?

Maybe Todd thought him a little on the soft side.

Was hoping we avoided the Watts/Fritsch chat. Can we call it a day on that one now? With the vagaries of the draft it's more a coincidence than an intended move I'd imagine.

As for young Bayley - has a nose for a goal, lovely kick, competitive overhead.

He'll need to have convinced the coaches his defensive work is up to scratch to get picked for round 1. I hope he has.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
