If the players give a stuff about what is said on field then they don't deserve to be out there. Who cares about the boot camp? Worry about the scoreboard.

It does in mine.       Some injuries and run of luck against us in 2017  but good sides make their own luck.

Ironically,  the camp was designed to build mental resilience, and as such would have assisted in dealing with what is said on field.

What's done is done though, so yes, let's all move on.

I've 'moved on', but the value of boot camps is still an interesting topic.  Seems to me they may build mental resilience in the face of exhaustion etc, but I suspect there are better ways of building it in the face of taunting by opponents.

So the boys r coming up and the club has decided to do an open training session on FRIDAY 2/2. 

Its great they are coming up but FMD some of us work for a living and can’t get up on Friday. 

Really dissapointing for the club to have it on a Friday. 

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. We have been going for a few years now. We bought memberships with this session the only highlight up here (qld) for years and they put it 9am on a friday when people have work and the kids have school. My daughter is a Young Demon member and the email was sent to her. Talk about neenah neenah. 

Kids are devestated. Wife is upset too as we ussually call back through Mooloolaba to pick up some awesome fresh prawns.

I'll finish by saying this event is usually well supported and really successful. 

We went up from Brisbane last year on the Saturday, and the kids had a great day in what seemed like a pretty big turn out. Doesn't make much sense to change it to a Friday.

This mob have no idea at all how to win over supporters. As mentioned in  previous posts they normally have the open session on the Saturday and in anticipation my elder boys and twin Grand Sons who I pay membership for booked in to Sunny Coast ( drive up Sat Morn from Bris) to watch the team train. They must think all Brisbane supporters will have day off from work and pull kids out of school and drive the 2 hours to Sunny Coast to watch them on a Friday. They have to be joking surely!

Saturday is half price organic monkey poo coffee bean facial scrub day at the Maroochydore Day Spa. Can’t have the players missing out on that.

My first thought when I read the club's email was to take the kids out of school and take a day off. Wife vetoed that very quickly.

I also sent an email to the club explaining my displeasure. Even through the performances of the past years I could find positives and we stayed fat with the club. But this really p's me off and stinks of arrogance.

There is two games at the Gabba this year and would have spent hundreds of dollars on the functions etc. Right now I don't think I want to.

I would imagine that everything involved with an AFL club is an exact science.  They don’t train on a Saturday here and their training loads etc would be replicated to the enth degree of what they do in Melb. If I want to go to a training session in Melb I would have to take time off and my kids would have to take time off school (barring school hols). If you have one opportunity to see the team you follow ......I would be taking time off if possible.  I am not going to argue the science of the game as I am not privy to all that and don’t have the knowledge but I would rather they do what they feel they need to do to be successful than fit into supporters schedules....sorry ?

I don't care about whether they did the camp or not but it showed abysmal connection between the coach and the playing group. This was another stuff up by a club that seems to move from one mini stuff up to another (need we mention the finals tickets email !!)

Let's not mention that as the club was one of 10 clubs directed to forward such an email to their members in advance of finals. Two teams were going to miss out and look a bit foolish. Sadly we were one of them.

Sometimes it has to be about the supporters. There are a lot of QLD and nationwide passionate Demons that might not even get a chance to see the team live at all throughout a year.

Last year we were receiving daily diary reports for the duration of the training camp of what players were getting up to and that included the weekend.

It doesn't have to be a training session on a Saturday for supporters to attend, the club could organise a simple Meet and Greet for a couple of hours.

Spot on D77. It’s always been on a sat for as long as I can remember so why change it now. 

It makes no sense and pisses a lot of qld supporters off.

If I was in Melbourne, we would have already been to a session because.....it was the school holidays. It now isn't. That is the point. You are missing the point about how well attended this activity has been over the years and the good that it does to the supporter base up here. Given the two games at the Gabba this year I would have thought it would be the year to really drum up support.

As D77, it only has to be a BBQ and meet and greet with the players and a kick of the footy.

Sounds like you were one of the masterminds behind the Friday time slot , Really stupid by the club, we haven't played a game in QLD in 2 years...... It isn''t that hard to look after your supporters, yet the MFC continue to [censored] it up.

If they had wanted to build a Saturday training session into the schedule I’m sure they could have organised it. They have worked the schedule around a public holiday this weekend, a travel day either end of this camp and they were able to re-schedule, without apparent issue, after the boot camp was called off at short notice. It has also been possible to schedule a Saturday Maroochydore training session in past years. Why not this year?

Seems like the people who scheduled this session have really put the Queensland supporters at the forefront of their thoughts.

Nobody is at all upset about this, and the kids would be excited to read about how the training session went while they were at school 5 minutes down the road.

 

And to those who buckle to the wife, and send the kids to school for 1/2 of a meaningless day in their lives instead of letting them see their heroes, for god sake take the skirt off and have a look at yourselves.
