Winning games fixes just about everything SWYL.

On that form we have been atrocious for over a decade add our small supporter base and less than wonderful draw/ Free to air TV coverage and you have the perfect recipe    for low sponsors numbers or poor paying sponsors.

Would we be in this position if we had won the last game of 2017?

Who knows but I suspect not.

We just have to win 14+ games in 2018 and play finals in 2018.

As you say the players are being paid the full amount so IMO it is up to the players.

Win games guys or we will continue to be amongst bottom few teams.

Absolutely. It is entirely on the players shoulders now.

How much do they want to succeed on the MCG later in the year?

You don’t think our 2018 Draw and dismal TV deal has anything to do with the Round 23 result (choke)??

it’s all connected and in this city we are obviously last in line when it comes to Sponsorships, been the same for a long time

You miss the point.  Of course if we had got into the finals (or won the flag!) we'd be in a better position with sponsors.  But we were discussing the impact of the R23 debacle itself on potential sponsors as things stand now. I maintain the method of our failing to get into the finals now carries little weight with potential sponsors.

Yes i think Round 23 last year has an impact on the fact, that as of now we have no Major Sponsor.

What point have i missed??

The proposition I disagreed with was that the lack of spirit etc which supposedly caused the R23 debacle in itself would scare away sponsors.  The point I have been making is that compared to all the other factors, that would not in itself weigh heavily with sponsors.  If you can't see the distinction I'm not going to try to explain it further.

Not laying a tackle in the first 10 minutes of such an important game says a lot in terms of spirit and if i were wanting to sponsor a team, it would definately be a strong factor going forward with a decision.

I don’t need you to explain anything. It was all there in front of my eyes ?

I disagree with everything you've said, It looks terrible when your the only team without a sponsor and don't worry it definitely be noticed if we run out in round one without a sponsor. It's hard to change the perception of our club when your running around with a blank space on your jumper, the media will notice & we become the butt of all jokes for other teams supporters.

I doubt they’ll be pi55ing themselves laughing, after we’ve handed their well sponsored team, their asses on a plate.

Rumours on BigFooty (take it with a grain of salt) that Lexus is to be announced as our new co-sponsor soon.

Please excuse my scepticism CB but that was mentioned here pages ago. They probably got it from Demonland.

Maybe, as mentioned in this very thread a while ago. A few players have taken Instasnaps of their new toyota cars...I get they both come under the same company but why buy cars from one subsidiary if you're being sponsored by another?

Much more likely praha is that we do not have a car sponsor and the players are just buying cars they like.

Win a few early, impress the AFL monolith and the true-blooded fans, stay aloof as best as possible from the sponsorship debate, honour the jumper by not carrying a viral logo from a sponsor - and allow the team to get on with it. We could do worse. Then, be selective as to who is knocking on the door. Go slowly...

Or maybe the players bought their cars before the AHG deal was over and bought them at a 'special rate' from dealers associated with the then sponsor.

I know I am a bit down the pecking order LDC but I enquired late November at a dealer and was told it was over.

Last year at this same time we were all speculating on who would replace AHG who went from fromnt and back of the jumper to only one side.

Guess what nothing happened until well into the season.

I suspect we have the same problem this year.

Great news!!! As a Financial planner I will now look to use Zurich as my number 1 insurance provider.?

They just purchased OneCare insurance from ANZ Wealth.

Will be interesting times, I think the deal makes them Australia's largest insurer now, overtaking TAL.

I was sceptical of the clubs ability to get a deal done before the start of the season, but this is a great result (assuming the dollars are okay). Well done to Peter Jackson and his staff.

It is great they got them deal done before the start of the season, the issue just is the lost merchandise revenue by having the deal done so late.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
