And you lot think you have problems!

I find myself attending football games in the swinish and vulgar company of Biffen and Moonie.

It could be worse... I could be living in Melbourne and joining you and your illustrious company.

I've been supporting Melbourne since I was young in the 1950s. I've been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and I still support Melbourne. Melbourne is for life, and I would never change my club or drop my support. Without support, the club is nothing.

I'll leave the idea of "business", "buying", "product" and changing "suppliers" to things like phone contracts, power companies and banking. Not for my football club.

If you've managed to stay with Melbourne for the last 11 years, why would you leave now that things are really starting to look up?

^^  ditto, echo, ditto, 100%!!

I don’t have any kids, but if i did and they decided to change teams, i just would stop buying food for them.

If they want to buy their own foods and pay bills they can change teams.

I'm in the same boat as you old dee. Oldest born in 2006 and the youngest the year after. Talk about bad timing lost both to Pies and Hawks.

As you say life goes on I'm just happy they have an interest in the sport and they share in my hatred for Meth Coast.

They like their mother (Blues) all paid up Dees members

That's good to know. Do they like you?

Given that my children follow Melbourne, my grandchildren follow Melbourne, and I converted my wife from an Essendon supporter, I can claim a few credits.

My brother’s first wife was a Collingwood supporter and his daughter followed Collingwood and his son the Demons. Then Dermott Brererton joined Collingwood (who she hated) and she has been a Melbourne supporter ever since.

My father was a passionate supporter. At his wake the last song played was the Grand Old Flag. All my cousins and their kids barrack for the Dees. As do my sister and her kids. My niece married into a Melbourne supporting family last year. At the wedding their were perhaps 150 guests and it was a struggle to find someone who didn’t barrack for the red and blue. Again the night closed with a couple of rousing renditions of the song. It was huge.

My nephews wedding next year will be similar. The only family disappointment is my brother who is a football philistine who, I think, believes he is above all that nonsense. Fortunately his oldest inherited the Melbourne gene.

For all the years of pain and disappointment I love being Melbourne

I am moving to Melbourne in a couple of weeks and signed up to a Bronze GA membership in October. I have admired how Roos turned the club around and the general direction it's heading in (although I understand with that comes a lot of disappointment!) now under Goodwin.

Can anyone share their thoughts on the quality of seats you can get for GA? Obviously I've seen the map but it's better to get a first hand response.

Also, for Anzac Eve and Queens Bday games, how full will it get and do you have to rock up hours in advance?

Oh, and I was delivered two scarves (as others are also saying). Maybe I'll need them in June/July...

Welcome to Demonland. I'm not familiar with that membership and where those seats are but I'm sure one of the other posters will let you know.

Go Dees.

I received the memberships for my wife and 3 kids today. Back in October I spoke to a real person on the phone from the membership department to request which player pictures I would like on their membership.

They had some new names available for next year and a couple of them were the kids favourite players so I thought I would surprise them for Xmas as part of their gifts.

The cards arrived minus the players pictures, just some plain old cards. How hard is it to get this right?

That's weird, I did mine online and I've received one of them with Viney on the card. I think I selected Petracca for the other but it hasn't come yet.

I wanted to call any one of my sons 'Ronald Dale' but she who must be obeyed let me down on this one.....

We received our membership packs this week and I am very disappointed with the kids membership accessories. Firstly a watch that has no instructions! And basically the way the band is designed it is not wearable. A folded Jack Viney poster with crease marks all over it that makes it look beyond second hand. Finally a Jayden Hunt figurine that certainly does not do justice to the great man. My kids weren't impressed and in 2018 I would expect better from MFC to get the kids excited.

My kids are a bit younger and got the "Little Devils" pack and they were stoked. They got a backpack, stickers, colouring book, fake tattoos and the creased Viney poster. They were wearing their backpacks and lanyards with stickers all up and down their arms last night

Nice. My 4.5yo got the same pack, she insisted on bringing her backpack on a 4WDing trip I took her on into the wombat state forest, complete with club calendar, tatoos, stickers etc. when we got out to hike down to a stream, she brought the pack along for the journey.

wih respect to my membership, I missed out on the scarf I asked for, but my Dad got two he didn’t ask for!

We got the same creased Viney poster. My daughter wanted to hang it up in the lounge room, her mum prevailed and it's now on the laundry door (facing inwards though!).

29,053.

Slowly creeping up to last year's pre Christmas number of 29,426.

I would guess the club is disappointed to be behind last year after a seemingly improved 2017.  But probably not surprised.

We did improve last season but that last round would have taken a lot of gloss of the season.

This maybe a contributing factor to the membership numbers.

I know it taking me a long time to get over it and I’m still in the process of it.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
