Adelaide tanked

After last night its official. Presumably gil will announce an enquiry on monday. ?  Oh wait.  Its the afl we're talking about here.

If you're referring to their round 23 defeat at the hands of West Coast, there is no evidence there. Walker and Talia were left out because of some slight concerns about their health and fitness. They simply failed to handle the conditions at Subiaco or the emotion of the home team that really wanted to go out with a bang in their last game at the ground and make the finals.

Nor did I hear of any WCE coach or official telling jokes about not losing.

Adelaide did exactly what they should have in Round 23. They rested 50/50 players before a finals campaign.

Why risk more injury when your Top Position is locked.

The MFC were mentally weak during the same round, which is what we should concentrate on fixing.

It was a dead rubber. They handled it well.

A team they possibly did not wish to meet again vanished into irrelevance.

Well played.

Close thread, no worthy of further discussion.

Anyone trying to blame Adelaide for us not playing finals is just embarrassing themselves.

Too true -- had our mentally soft team gone out and done what they should have the day before, this wouldn't be discussed at all.

Of course they did. Perfectly fine by me. It's Season Management !!

Who cares. We [censored] the bed in round 23 (once again). Tried hard to [censored] it in round 22 too. We finished in the half of the ladder that we deserved to.

I thought it was Jack Watts missing two goals that caused us to miss....

Yeah, it's their fault we lost to Freo, Hawks and then Norf twice. Because of them we couldn't beat the pies in R23. Burn them at the stake I say!

immediately Geelong beat GWS I knew that we were gone. It meant Crows had nothing to play for.

it does highlight the importance of the suggestion Mick Malthouse made, notably that to avoid unfairness, every match in the last round should be played at the same time. This is what happens in the Premier League in U.K. Of course, it was our fault that we lost to Collingwood, but WC had an unbelievable advantage knowing precisely what they needed to do.

A) can't believe every time I hear this discussed, it doesn't get shut down straight away or somebody at least asks how they propose to achieve this. Especially with the tv rights

Premier league teams each have their own individual ground so we would have to have only 2 games in Victoria involving 4 Vic sides playing at MCG and Etihad , 1 game in Tassie, 1 in WA, 1in SA, Suns, Lions, Swans & GWS playing at home.

B) No unbelievable advantage as we also knew precisely what we had to do

Our destiny was in our own hands. Adelaide would have done what they did even if we had beaten Collingwood.

No tanking, just good player management

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
