A phenomenal season with Casey and was red hot again in yesterdays final with another 4 goals.

20 years old, 186 cm, beautiful left boot, fantastic mark, great goal sense.  Sitting 5th in the VFL  goalkicking.

Could be Hannan 2.0, though his upside is even greater.

Get him.

I wonder if this kid will even make it through to our second pick. He does look the goods, and he wouldn't have went unnoticed among other clubs this year.

Yup, it will be a real risk not taking him with the 2nd rounder, assuming hes still on the board (and assuming we are into him).

The question is not if he is any good, but is he what we need?  I imagine we have a clear idea of what we need, and outside midfielders might be it for this trade and draft season.  If medium forward is not on that list he will go elsewhere, or on our rookie list at best.  Looks good, though.

What's the 'knock on him'?  Any idea what's stopped him being drafted the last few years or is he new to footy??

I went to a few Casey games this year and Fritsch was the highlight of the season for me, I'd hate for anyone else to pick him up.

I would also like to give The Coldstream Football Club a shout out for turning up every game to watch their boy Fritsch play.

He'll be there at our 2nd pick. Whether he's the best available at that pick? Would be close.

Well assuming we trade pick10 for Lever, we would surely take a midfielder at pick 27 as we need to stock up through there, in fact it is of ultra importance with Vince, Lewis and soon Jones coming to the end.

Fritsch > Weideman

he is 10 cms shorter so you would expect him to come on quicker than the Weed

do we need another undersized fwd?   does he chase and tackle?  many goal assists?   at 186 cms not sure he could even be our 3rd fwd?

Seen a bit of him this year and he can certainly play. Having a lot of trouble seeing where he fits in the side though :(

No issues with taking him with a rookie pick or very late draft pick if he is still available, but there is no way we should be using high draft picks on mid-sized forwards. You take genuine midfielders and key position players in the first two rounds of the draft, especially as a developing team.

A lot of people have talked him up and I hope we get him - but if you saw him on TV three weeks ago against Willy you would have to say "No way". The worst game by a potential draft pick that I have seen - conditions not good though.

The fact that, against the same side, he came back and played well last weekend, indicates he is still worth claiming - but I am thinking as a rookie, but I may be dreaming on this one as it is always hard to rate VFL players and the club will have an idea of who is in to him pre-draft.

Obst.

Surprised he wasnt previously look at in the draft given his current form.

There must be a flaw (size, aerobic capacity, skills) that is holding him back.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
